850 CSi - first steps

You are of course right, I'm just quite nervous about the respray as this is by far the most expensive - and important part of this refurbishment.
Car has a new, used bonnet. The front bumper needs a little work due to an old shoddily repaired knock. Same for the rear side, non-professional seal causing water to get into the boot. Nothing big, will be done together with the respray.
Not doing the retrimming of the ceiling yet as the sunroof needs to come out anyway. That'll be the next task after respray.
Wheels will be done, but only at the very end. Will need a very good contact for that, not too happy with the company in my vicinity.
Then the proper cosmetics start, mainly engine, and treatment of all rubber seals hardened over the years outside.
Not planning to do any modification to the car as I want to keep it original. The only consideration at the moment is to take the limit out allowing the engine to go to its maximum! I am driving to Germany quite often - and the Nürburgring is close to my hometown. But I reckon I'd be too chicken to take the car there anyway...
Had an offer on the car - through PH! No intention to sell but quite flattering and encouraging that I am not overspending. Take a guess!

I don't know who has had the stamina to follow this thread up to here but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Gerry (8Tech) for his advice and work on the car. Without Gerry this car would not be running - and certainly not be anywhere near the finish line! Never met anyone who knows so much about a car. Thanks Gerry!
once again, not much of an update, we are progressing very, very slowly...
according to the body shop this counts as a major refurb and I am lucky it has only taken 8 weeks so far. Not so sure I agree with that but once it is done (superbly) then previous impatience shall be forgotten.
Bonnet, chassis, boot lid and sunroof have been resprayed, yet to be done are doors and bumpers. And then it'll need puzzleing together...
Here some pictures from today:
Here a quick reminder what the floor of the boot looked like:
Well, that looks much better now!

Niki why is it taking so long? Is it because they didn't really have the time but are doing you a favour and fitting it in around their other jobs?
Pretty much, minus the favour. They liked the size of the job I guess! Or were doing Gerry the favour.I think they have been taking on too much work, either we are currently in a popular accident season or they are simply good! I'd prefer the latter.

If they did that, you would have to have a full respray every time you had a small repair done.
The paint code is mixed for each session.
The parts they have completed so far look absolute immaculate, even before the polish! Can't wait to see it when finished and put back together. The paint code is mixed for each session.
