Full brake change on the 46 for me over the weekend and general MOT prep, which it promptly failed as my tyres were "below legal limit" even tho on the guage i used they were in fact on the limit.
Wanted £100 for 2 new rears, but as I have MV1's to go on I'm getting part worn to go on through the MOT until the cash clears for tyres for the MV's.
Pleasantly surprised there were no other failures or advisories on the car as I was expecting. Need to use it for a while then too until I can get it off the road for a bit when the tax goes in July to do some general stuff to it to keep it riding and steering sweet.

Started mine up (E46 320i) it revved and died straight away, tried a few more times and it started but was running like a dog. so ordered code reader last night. Suspect crank position sensor but will scan codes and see what they throw up.
Could also be a dieing fuel pump thats generally how they fail on a 46Sardonicus said:

Took the 325 ti to my self storage unit and loaded it up with c**p now I have built my shed (it's the practical one) but will treat it soon as the new floor mats arrived today and it is booked in on Monday for a cooling system refresh!
Also means the Z4C will get some attention while the 325 undergoes surgery!
In case you wondered I do like an N/A straight 6! (took me nearly 10 years of 4 cylinder td's to work it out though).

treated it to a quick wash during my lunch break in work. sadly its only highlighted the swirls and scratches/dings even more now.
Tried my best to give the arches a good clean but its not really possible in this sort time without getting the wheels off.
Plus side - I dont see any new bubbles forming on the rear arches
down side - I need to get the arches sorted sometime soon. Why did BMW think that leaving a nice convenient lip for all the crap to gather and sit was a good idea on the E46's??
For anyone that doesn't use the 2 bucket method to clean the car I can only say do it! the colour of the water in the rinse bucket was like coal. if you don't use the 2 bucket method then your only putting all that back on to the car!

Could also be a dieing fuel pump thats generally how they fail on a 46Finished replacing all four dampers on my E46 330i M Sport. The OSF pinch bolt sheared, so it was a case of spending 2 1/2 hours drilling it out. Apart from that an easy job, although frantically trying to engage the spring retainer nut while watching the spring compressor edge it's way off the retainer was a bit of a clencher I must admit.
Next job: Clutch.

Collected my 325 ti from having a cooling system refresh!
Radiator was pretty bowed at the bottom so it got the full radiator, thermostat, temperature sensor, expansion tank, cap and drive belt replacement.
Just under £500 so not a disaster as it should be good for another decade or so. Fingers crossed!

Four new dampers and a full service last weekend (DIY), booked in at a BMW indy for a new clutch on Wednesday, booked in a Sytners on Thursday for airbag recall. Then a 670 mile round trip to Pembrokeshire. I hope all the stuff I've done to it recently doesn't let me down...
My previous Honda never needed anything like this amount of attention, even at 120+K miles. Shame it rotted away in the end. BMW E46's seem extremely fragile.
