Hi,

I've been modding E92 M3 exhausts for a while now, which for those who know makes the V8 sound really sound how it should...
Well today I modded a 2008 650i using the same technique.

Heres a clip of before http://youtu.be/C50pmpX4wqs
here is a clip of afterwards http://youtu.be/3MBV5mBGGRQ

heres whats inside the backboxes

wrapped in aluminium tape and then heat wrapped

welded back up, repeated on other backbox

I'll get a drivepast uploaded soon.

This kind of mod can be done on any car, though keep in mind it will accentuate what the sound is already, for example an E46 will sound even more raspy, which may not be desirable.
the 650i sounded way better after modding, with spits and crackles smile

As said above, it's how easy it is to live with that matters to most people. I used to have a VXR8 that gave a lot more pleasure to the people travelling behind the car than it did to those who were in it!

Doesn't sound too bad.

To offer an alternative, I've just had the three resonators removed from my 650i and it sounds incredible. No drone, and not loud unless you plant your foot. See this thread for pics and vids etc: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=...

I have an obvious bias but it does sound a hell of a lot better in person, there are a lot of resonators on the 650i lol

Funny, I was just going to say the same thing to you hehe

As it's my family wagon, it's a major dilemma to contemplate something like this. If I had a 6 series which was a weekender or not the main family motor I'd be onto something like this in a flash.

Exactly the same for me, it's my every day car and I'm off to the South of France in a few weeks, so don't want a droning exhaust all the way there and back.

I'm halfway through that thread, although it's giving me a headache biggrin

I'm liking the sound of this one.
