My e39 has 288k miles on the clock.
The oil has only been changed when the car says so.
It doesn't require a top-up between services.
I would say that CBS has worked OK for me.

Any BMW dealer will do an interim oil change, even with a service pack. The cost is around £170 for a 320d - the thing is, the dealer won't reset the service indicator or 'stamp' the service log, especially with a service pack.

Regarding oil filters: early on, it was found that He***st oil filters could and did break up butb they have been sorted out. However, it's not uncommon to see a car that's gone thousands of miles over the oil change period and the filter is knackered.

For £170 odd a year, it's worth doing if you plan top keep the car into a six figure mileage.
