520D M Sport touring queries
Discussion
Hi, I have a few questions relating to the car I have recently purchased, I posted on another BMW forum but replies are a bit slow...
1) The car is almost at 100k miles does it need swirl flaps to prevent the engine eating itself? If so I will do this at MOT time in June.
2) Has anybody lowered their touring on 30mm ebaich springs with 19s with any issues?
3) Where is the best place for HID lights and fog-lights (blue but not too blue, I'd go for 5k ones THAT won't blind others)
4) I have noticed the phone cradle can fit iPhone, anywhere you'd recommend for me to obtain one that will fit an iPhone 4s.
5) I have been looking at remapping it, e-maps look good to me - £250 is excellent value however I want to hear from others who have mapped at 100k and any issues?
6) Just in case, If the car goes pop where is the best place for 'warranty' or wear and tear cover?
7) Is there anything else that can make the car look nice, I don't fancy putting carbon on it as it will get nicked but if there is any nice classy upgrades I am willing to consider them.
8) As you can see in the 3rd or 4th picture the front bumper tow cover is missing, where is best to obtain a replacement? I've looked but £40 is a bit excessive for a tiny piece of plastic!
9) The car doesn't have SAT NAV built into it's iDrive, is it possible for me to get this installed and if so how?

1. Depends on what year your thinking of getting, is it an LCi model ?1) The car is almost at 100k miles does it need swirl flaps to prevent the engine eating itself? If so I will do this at MOT time in June.

2. A touring has air bags on the rear not springs so it will look like a dragster with just front springs, maybe someone can reprogramme the rear height.
3. Depends also on what model to what lights are fitted, if its got projector style then any eBay jobs will do, if it hasn't dont fit them you will blind everyone regardless.
4. Get a parrot mki9200 with steering wheel interface.
5. Dont bother mapping it, just by a 530D instead, far superior engine and much more suited to an e60.
6. Buy direct from a BMW dealer thats the best warranty tbh
7. Buy a M-Sport and leave it alone.
8. What pics?
9. You can get satnav iDrive retro fittedm second hand units go for £800-£1000 plus fitting and coding, just buy a tomtom or one with it fitted, tbh bmw satnav is s
tJust buy a 530

1) I've already got it, it's a 2006 model 520D M Sport, I was under the impression it is a M sport not a badged up one due to the kit on it? and what does LCi mean? (It has M mode also, and comes up on insurance as a M sport)2. 2) I'll post pictures of the BM on here so people know what model it is and what lights are on it...
9) I'll forget the satnav then at that price... shame it's s
t, looks like a good piece of gadget. Edited by typer0612 on Thursday 16th May 09:58

Remaps and warranty don't go hand in hand either.
It's been out of the main dealer network for some time now, don't think BMW would even consider warrantying that touring. Pictures:
When I picked it up

When I encountered the wheel issues...

Replacement wheels (fake CSL ones) with thanks to Atomic Wheels in Milton Keyes
[img]The suspension is air suspension on this model? Meaning I can't drop it on springs?

Sorry no real answers to your questions, but IMO the wheels you have on at the moment totally spoil the car - they are far too small and the style doesn't suit the car.
The original wheels are so much better.
The originals were replica Spyder wheels and cracked in 8places per rim. The new ones are kave 19s (csl) they're the same size as I swapped tires over. Bad picture I'd say. Will upload better ones later. The original wheels are so much better.

I always liked the Spyder wheels, I had them on my 535d. I think they suit the car perfectly, IMO of course.

19" rims are too small!!? Say what you like about the look, but I think you're in a different world regarding the wheel size! The original wheels are so much better.

I also mentioned that the original Spyders look much better - they are also 19".

If you had read my other post, you would have found that I also said once the OP mentioned that they are also 19", that they must appear smaller due to the colour.
I also mentioned that the original Spyders look much better - they are also 19".

Another bump just a quick question, what shape is this BMW exactly? E61 or E60 and I am confused regarding the light bulbs as I want to replace them. I also mentioned that the original Spyders look much better - they are also 19".

Amazon have this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dipped-upgrade-HeadLight-S...
would that fit this BM? its a 520d 2006 m sport touring...
