Noticed an issue over the last few weeks and uncertain as to what it might be.

Symptoms
1. When pulling away in D at about 1,500 revs it jerks badly then finds the gear again - this seems to happen regardless of how gentle and smooth I apply the throttle, if I floor it its fine likewise in DS its fine.
2. When coming to a stop I guess when it disengages 2nd then is a jerk- note this doesn't happen if I let it freewheel to a stop. Also this issue doesn't always happen however it seems to happen not initially but after a distance.

Any ideas?
Milage is 108k full main dealer BMW service history on the nose.
Car is totally standard so no remap etc which could be causing it.

Just looking for any ideas rarer than take it in for what I guess is an intermittent fault which will be £350per hour sir cannot find anything.

Thanks chaps.

Was there any fee associated with it?
Glad someone else has had this issue and evidently its not a big issue.

Fluid change (if it hasn't had one) is a good idea at that miles, as a matter of precaution.

Software update would be worthwhile too, I wouldn't put it into BMW as they are likely to charge you around £6-700 for both, and that's if you can convince them to do the fluid change

£600-700 ouch.

Just thinking if it needs the following within say the next 12 months
New discs and pads
This £600-700 issue
DPF (says 40k miles to go) but when due £1,500
Brake fluid change
Filter change

Is it possibly a smart time to be looking to change it? The above list isn't cheap but clearly once done would see it fine until 200k+ miles though would I still want to be using it at that age/milage/would want a change?

Mine is doing the same.
Phil Crouch quoted £500 for a fluid change and adaptation so I'm going to get that done.

Also need both thermostats changing as it only gets to 70c - can't be doing the DPF any good.
I think I'm going to attempt a DIY on those though. Any tips - I found one guide online but always good to read more.

If it's only reaching 70 degrees the DPF won't regenerate at all! Changed them ASAP...

Mine was under warranty so I assume there is a price. Basically it tells the car to only engage from 2nd to 1st if the car has come to a standstill and a few seconds has passed. You can still feel it engage gears but nothing like a great thump of what felt like being rear ended

Anyone know what a software refresh costs at BMW? Also what should I ask for - I'd imagine they would request that I describe the symptoms and then would look into it investigation which is open ended

I hate to say it but mine took two to three trips before it got sorted. Eventually my mate who works at Carrs kept it over night and drove it to work seeing the issue and realised that it was a known issue logged with BMW with a software update.

Sorry I can't be much help but try and push them to look for this issue as a software bug rather than them resetting the auto as that doesn't work.
