usb takes an age

I have the usb interface on my e91.

I use a 16gb usb stick which has about 12gb of music on it organised by artist/album/song.

I have a few playlists in the root.

When I turn it on it will continue playing which ever playlist/album or directory it was on, but I can only navigate by directory. After a while (between 5 and 30 minutes) I can then navigate by artist, dir, album or playlist.

Is there a way to spee this process up?

The iPod integration doesn't seem to have that problem, which suggests that it has a fair amount of memory to cache everything, or else it's just a lot faster retrieving data from the iPod than a memory stick.
