Because if there was I would probably buy it!

I imagine an Alpina B1 take on the 135i would be a very fine thing indeed - a bit wieldier (and cheaper!) than a B3 Biturbo.

Or is it more likely that there would be a D1, with the tweaked 123d engine as in the new D3?

Anybody heard/know anything? Any thoughts?

if you go over to the alpina register, their thoughts are the company has only so much manpower and with the 3,5,7,series in production they are at their limit.

New issue of BMW Car magazine came out in the last few days, has a 135i convertible which has been to AC Schnitzer, called the ACS1 3.5i Turbo.

"The further i drive it, the more i wonder why you'd get an M3 Convertible when you can have this much fun in a 1 Series".

360bhp, 383lbft, 182mph. Apparently.

Why would you get an M3 Convertible over a 135i convertible?

Maybe if you care about looks, the 1 series chop top looks terrible ...

Looks are subjective.

The 1 series coupe was only ever planned to be a 2000 units/year so if they exceed that then they have a made a very good decision.
The 1 series convertible for me Im not keen on its looks I prefer the 130i 5 door M sport.

I would choose an Alpina B1 over any other BMW if they produced it.

It would be awesome, 360bhp, unique great looking... But, the market is far too small. It's already niche for the B3 and I can't see them producing a 'similar' car that will pull sales from the B3.

As much as would love to see it, it just won't happen.

As for AC Schnitzer, I was talking to them regarding a remap. I quickly ruled out this options as:

- 2000 euro's for the remap
- you need to pay to remove the ECU and ship to Germany (not easy to access in a 1er)
- It takes 7-10 days to get your ECU back
- It's lost if BMW flash your ECU (common as there have been 3 versions for the NB54)
- It will then need to send it back at your own cost and they may charge to remap again

What a HASSLE!

Stuff that, I am going to use a reliable UK supplier, hopefully DMS. Shouldn't be long now as BMW's encryption has been 'broken' for sometime.
