New 7-Series and obscure extra

Curiosity has got the better of me. What on earth does the extra involving "Ceramic surrounds for controls" entail. Yes, I know it gives you ceramic surrounds, but why?

cermaic wears incredibly well, is rock hard and shiny. To stop that faded, scratched look after say 100k miles. Means a SH one will look great still, nice idea if thats the case BMW.

They look stunning in the flesh I work for BMW in Glasgow and was down for one of the launch days.Stunning car a vast improvement on the E65/66.

Yet will still depreciate like snow dropping off a ditch...

much more tactile and reduces retained heat in the contoller when the cabin is hot - perfect for the UK...but it does look very special.
