I've got my ideas on the value of this car but would appreciate some of your views.

98 S. M3 Evo, Boston with Black Vader.

35k miles with FSH, Part BMW part Indy.

It’s very difficult to place a value on these cars when they have a low mileage – I know ‘cause I’m endlessly curious as to what my fully-loaded 40k mile 318is coupe might fetch if I were to sell it, but finding other examples that compare to mine so I can see what other people are asking has proved impossible!

Based on what I’ve seen I reckon an M3 which such low miles should be asking at least £9k, but what you’d actually get depends how many punters are out there that specifically want a low-miler at the time that you’re selling it.

Can't see it making 9k. Not the way that the second hand car market is at the moment....

E46's are now down to £10K and is a far better car IMO, £9k retail would be very optimistic for that. We only paid £12K for a 35K mile one owner E36 M3 evo from a main BMW dealer 4 YEARS AGO!

If it is as immaculate as the mileage would suggest, that could sell privately at £8k+.

I think £5k is a fair p/x bid, but don't expect it to fly out the door when you go to resell.

Boston is the killer IMO. Estoril/Silver/Anything but Boston.

Neither can I, but that's roughly what people are asking for very low mileage E36 M3s. What they actually 'make' is another matter of course.

There's a lot of circa 100k miles examples advertised at around that that sort of price... but what they actually sell for is another matter, so you might get lucky.

Personally I'd agree, however some people think it's the badger's nadgers.

I assume it's not SMG?

I agree with above that it's also not the most desirable colour. I think you'll get 7k, 7.5k if you're lucky.

Walk away. There's plenty of straight ones... unless you're relying on this deal to shift a car of your own… in which case £4k if it’s a manual, significantly less if it’s an SMG.

The car is coming as a Part Exchange. It is very straight and the miles are great.

I was refering more to the Cat D status than the condition of the car really – That will make it a complete pain to shift in the future as there are plenty of non-Cat D cars out there to choose from which, ironically, may be in worse condition, but don’t carry the stigma of being an insurance write-off and as such won’t be treated with suspicion.

I know what you meant but I feel the miles and condition outweigh Cat D.

If te car is bought at right money of course.
