As per the title, which tyres suit the 528? I'm running Proxes on the Griff and they seem very good but would they be a bit soft for a car as heavy as the 5? (I'm thinking sidewall flex as opposed to compound)

They seem to be about the cheapest premium brand too, which is nice...

I tried various tyres on my E39 with 17's. I settled on Goodyear GSD3 F1's. I don't think you can get away with cheap on BMWs, unlike some other cars.

I'm paranoid about getting tyres that are out-of-round, so they wobble at speed even when they have been perfectly balanced. I think big name tyres are probably the best assurance of this.

Just so long as nobody, anywhere, buys Avon ZZ1s ever again. There ought to be a law against them.

The Proxes aren't cheap, but they're more cost effective than some of the other brands. biggrin I really like how they feel on the Griff.

I'll have a look at those brands and see how they stack up. Currently running Conti Sport Contacts.

Vredestein Ultracs are great tyres, used them on the M3,328 and 535 and the 540 will have em on when it somes time to renew.

I hope you wouldn't mind me asking where you got those from and how much they were? Its just I have exactly the same wheels as yours and would like to know a decent place to get replacements when neededsmile

When you're voting for tyres, what are you voting for?

High speed stability?

Overall grip?

Wear rate?

Noise?

price?

Something else?

I'm just getting a feel for the reasons why people rate the tyres they use.

I don't think you need to ask what tyres best suit your car, instead what tyres best suit your needs/priorities.

Best grip in the dry/wet
Handling
Wear rate
Noise
Price
