BMW Z1.......thoughts?

Hello,

Any Z1 owners (past/present) on here?

I'm tempted to have a splurge and would really appreciate some guidance from those in the know. The intention is to garage it in Italy as a toy for when we're out there.

Are we looking at huge money for repairs/maintenance etc?

What's on the 'watch for' list?

E30 running gear, plastic body and great 6 cylinder motor with RWD and very unique styling make them strong on residuals and fairly sensible to run.

I've heard of some issues with doors, but not too much else. www.zroadster.net has a wealth and active section for Z1's.

I know a few guys on here with Z1's, Spokey uses his a lot and drives quite enthusiastically too.

Chassis/Body parts might become more of an issue in the future.

Maybe an urban myth but when they came out the chip to open door was £800 and they did go wrong.
