Is anyone living with a modified 335I M Sport ? is it manual or auto? is it a better car than E46 M3 ?
Your thoughts please
It will never be a better car to the majority than an m3. Two different types of beast. Probably similar performance though, just very different ways of doing it.Your thoughts please

Mine lasted 9 months and then I was back in an E46 M3.
Two completely different cars, one is great if you do 40k miles a year and you're old, the other is if you want a sports car.
I have a 335i Sport Tourer with a manual box and it is an amazing machine. I have had an E36 Me Evo before and have also owned a Caterham a few years back and can tell you that the first thing I missed when I got the 335 was a proper throttle response, compared to an M it's nowhere near. 2 mods have helped with other aspects, I have a Birds remap (380bhp) and am also now running non run flats. As well as now having crushing acceleration, it can now add a fine ride to a list of great attributes I enjoy such as decent handling/steering, bags of driveability in low revs and 5 seats with fold down practicality. I do about 20k per year and wanted something with half decent economy (26mpg), that was discreet (Tourers in Sparkling Graphite are great for this I think) but that also performed well when pushed. I would have loved an E46 M3 in Saloon or Tourer guise or a B3S with a manual box but neither models were made. I almost bought an E39 M5 but the age of the car and the fact that those with split folding seats are as rare as hens teeth mean't I ended up with a 9 month old 335 - just happended to come along sooner.
Don't get me wrong, it is an amazing car, but as I have seen other say on here, it is just so damn effective that you don't feel like you need to be quite so involved as you do in an M Car, which for 90% of the time is ok. Although adding a LSD will certainly help the sideways fun, I might just wait a bit longer for E92 M3 Saloons to come down a bit further and take the plunge in a year or so and hope I can find one with split rear seats. I tried an E92 M3 (manual) while mine was in for a service and despite the (relatively) weak bottom end, those extra 2000rpm had my neck hairs standing up, the sound was intoxicating and the throttle response had me thinking back to Caterhams and a lively Peugeot 205 Rallye I used to have.
