Correct! Been quoted approximately £80+Vat from BMW. Does that seem reasonable?

Was considering using my usual indy but he would have to order parts etc. Need it doing ASAP!

Had both of mine changed last week on the E46 M3 (because I couldn,t be bothered) £283 at the stealers. They did recommend that I change both sides after one had snapped.

Could do without forking out £300. See what they say when I take it down.

Get a Haynes manual, a 18mm socket or spanner and a jack. 10 mins per side. Springs cost about £35 each from GSF.

I've changed a few and if you know anyone who can manage 10 mins per side, I'm impressed.

Cheap DIY job though, if you have tools/jack/stands and I'd also recommend doing the pair rather than the one. I'd also recommend GSF.

Good luck.

Hmmmm. I doubt I will be having a go myself. I don't have the time let alone the experience and skills!

Is only replacing one going to cause problems later on or could I get away with it?

The only warning if diy is when baring down to fit the new spring be careful not to stress or stretch the brake flexi hose....The have been known to fail after over stretching after a spring change and they pop at the union....Several models have a shorter hose!
