Upholstery colour dilemma!!
Discussion
Just keep on top of the cleaning and you will be fine.
Dakota leather is hard wearing as it's not the nappa.
They're a stack of good leather cleaners on the market e.g. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-fines... which is the stuff I use. It easily gets rid of dye transfer and marks.
The thing you need to worry about is the carpets if they are not black.

I have light leather ( beige) after nearly four years it's still like new. I use baby wipes and any grubbiness just lifts off
Oh yes and I have young kids
I have found that oyster gets grubby quickly and shows marks more than beige, but as long as you keep on top of it you'll be fined
Who wants to drive round in a coal scuttle ?

Exactly, drive round in something you have to look after a bit or drive round in something that looks st?? Black leather always looks older quicker as well, this is cause it doesn't doesn't show the dirt as much and so doesn't get looked after properly.

Not me........that's why I chose red I had an E36 318iS as a company car in the 90s - black paint with red cloth interior. I really liked it but my wife hated it - and it was known as the "tart's" car at work. I have been told in no uncertain terms that red interiors are a no-no!
Oyster looks good (as long as dash and floor are black) - I think you can get brown Dakota as no cost on 3 series luxury model but not on m sport. And I don't think you can get brown on M135i - but you can on 235. And on 5 series
