How to reset brake pad warning message? 2010 f10 5 series
Discussion
Hi guys, not here much, as our f11 520d has been a faithful companion and a fine motorcar all round.
So..I can find loads of advice on how to do this on older 5 series but not f10.
New pads and wear sensor all done.
Can I reset via iDrive , or an ebay OBD scanner? If the latter, any advice as to which one to get?
Thanks in advance..
Johnny

I believe you can reset the service light by holding the button in the left hand corner of the instrument cluster down with the ignition on until the service items are shown. So..I can find loads of advice on how to do this on older 5 series but not f10.

Then move through the different services by pressing the button until you find the service indicator you want to reset.
Then press and hold until it says reset then release and press and hold again to reset the light.
Hopefully that's correct.

Hey, so there is, thanks!
I got thru the menu to the reset process and pressed reset, and it shows the timer..but then says 'reset unsuccessful'. Darnit.
Maybe the new sensor isn't connected correctly, but I doubt it. Any other reasons?
No problem , I wonder if you lock the car and let it go to sleep (until the engine start button light goes out) and then retry the reset process. Like you say its unlikely that the sensor isn't connected properly but it can happen, so you could check it if you want. Hi,
Sorry if this is a little late but hope this helps in some small way. After several frustrating attempts and numerous 'reset unsuccessful' messages, I have managed to reset my rear brake sensor by following the steps everyone else has apart from 1 tiny difference - disengage the electronic handbrake prior to beginning the series of steps. Worked first time. Thanks for the info previously submitted.
