Used car sale - free stuff?
Discussion
Hi guys,
Just agreed on a car from Cooper BMW! got the car for a price I am happy with. (2013, 118d M sport, 20k miles, auto, diesel, etc) 16500
Quick question, what can a garage throw in for free for me? I have been given the paint and seat protection for free.
I have a personalised plate currently on a certificate, I did ask for plates to be made for free. But was given a choice of either plates at £39 or road tax £30. A friend I spoke to said both plates and road tax should be free?
Anywho, my question is what else can I get added being extra cheeky?
Thanks!

Bit late now, getting free stuff is to be done before you agree the deal. Just agreed on a car from Cooper BMW! got the car for a price I am happy with. (2013, 118d M sport, 20k miles, auto, diesel, etc) 16500

and 'free stuff' isn't free there is always a cost associated with it which has to come out of the deal.

You spent sixteen and a half grand and you're now looking for £30 of number plates?
Guys, thank you all! lol I know the protection costs peanuts hence why I am not one to pay for it. The deal is completed after I see the car, hence why I thought I will ask if I can get anything else thrown in.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the car!
I hope it isn't their Croydon operation - I bought a pre-reg from them in January 2008 and a full tank of fuel would have been nice, rather than half a tank. But to be fair a half tank was probably the only positive element of the transaction................!
If the experience had been a little better I may have actually rated it as abysmal, but it fell way short of that!

the Misty Buff won't be free. It might be 'in' the £16,500 price you have agreed with them, but I bet many things that when they shove an order form in front of you to sign it will go something like this:
Selling price ------------ £16,201.00
Misty buff --------------- £299.00
Total purchase price --- £16,500.00
Sorry to break it to you, but theres no such thing as a free lunch. Oh, apart from for the sales exec who will earn a bit of lunch money from the misty buff

half a tank? luxury. I got less than a quarter from the same dealership (different branch). Still, it was better than the Porsche I bought (from a specialist dealer) that was running on fumes. It really irritates me when you spend a lot of money on a car and you drive out the showroom straight for the nearest filling station rather than just enjoying the experience.Hi guys thanks for the replys, I have tried to ask for a few stuff but doubt I would get it. I got the car pretty cheap.
Question, in regards to owners.
The dealership was the original pre-reg owner, then a private owner. So my question is I will be the 3rd owner, will this be listed on the V5? or is the dealership not listed as the owner?
Sorry if I am not making sence.

the car is currently not at the showroom and is having a alloy wheel refurb. I have put a holding deposit down to secure the car.Edited by hassom on Wednesday 7th October 22:33

And the rule of thumb is that if you got the car cheap enough, don't worry about plates and tax. Just pay for them.
Plates cost s dealer about £8 a set so I don't see why they would even flinch at making you a set for your private reg but there we go!
