PCP quote - new BMW 335d touring

I only drive 10-15k miles a year. Should I consider the 340 ?
I have an F31 335d and my personal view is buy a 340i unless you want or need X-Drive. On the mileage you're doing the diesel makes no sense and in my experience the 335d isn't actually that economical anyway (over 27k miles mine is about 24% down on the claimed combined figure whereas the E92 335i which preceded it was only 10% off). In practical terms I suspect a 340i would only be about 5mpg worse than a 335d and the cost of that is frankly peanuts compared to items like depreciation....Cw4578 said:
It is worth knowing what the excess mileage charges are on the car if you plan to hand back after 4 years. You state a 10k miles pcp but travel up to 15k per year so could have 20k worth of charges over the 4 years worst case.
On an X3 it's £0.0776 iirc this is std BMW excess mileage so the cost if you hand the car back at the end of 4 years and put 20k excess on it then the excess charge is £1552, however if you switch into another BMW more often than not it's waived or if you buy the car then it's not charged either. The cost of the extra 5k pa could be about £17 per month so £815 over the life of the contract fixed versus a potential excess charge of £1500 if you hand the car back at year 4.
Hi,
Can anyone else comment on the PCP figure ? I will test both engines and eventually decide which car I want.
Even if you have a 5 series or other model feel free to quote the deal you have.
My mind isn't set on the 3 series. I'm also interested in the 5, but unfortunately can only stretch the 525d, which appears just to be a tuned 520d.
I'm considering being silly and going for a coupe with a big engine. Problem is I have a German shepherd and the only other Car we have is a 530d salon which isn't ideal.
So the option is practical and fast - 335d touring or 340.
Practical and better build quality 525d touring.
Impractical but fast and a good laugh - 2 series coupe or 4 series coupe with 3 l engine.
Decision is incredibly hard.

Marcellus hi ,you say " however if you switch into another BMW more often than not it's waived" Have you had experience of this?
They won't care because the price they offer for the trade in will be adjusted for the mileage. The only time they worry about it is if you're returning the car and not buying another. This applies to all main dealers with an over mileage car on a PCP deal.

Mate, you can get a stonking 535d for under £40k by now. If you can get 20% down you should be able to get it under £400 with £18k left at the end - OR BETTER! Just make sure it doesn't have godawful rigid RFTs as they do it NO favours Can anyone else comment on the PCP figure ? I will test both engines and eventually decide which car I want.

I recently picked up a pre-reg 340i, 2 months old, very decent spec with 60 miles on the clock. Overall its cost me 31k as I went with the dealer finance to get the contribution and a stronger PX value, however I'm just about to settle after waiting for several weeks for BMW Finance to get their sh!t together
As others have said the runflats are horrendous and ruin the ride when pushing on, consumption is pretty good, after a month of ownership I'm seeing just shy of 30mpg based on 50% inner city and 50% rural roads (c350 miles per tank, just about double what my M5 would do on the same journeys / driving style)
Last time I looked there were still several autumn 2016 registered cars available for sale, I'm sure now would be a very good time to strike a deal as the 17 plates are looming.

£1 a mile that would cost over the 3 years (plus fuel, maintenance, insurance on top), sounds a pretty poor deal!On the road price £52,150. Dealer discount is £4898.00 so cash price is £47,252.
