e60 545i - MPG?

Salesman at BMW just told me that their quoted MPG of 28 is a total lie, and you actually get about 16 - is this true?

Well, quite - I was a little shocked, he also said the servicing was much more expensive than the 3litre, which I don't really get with the exception of there being more plugs!

It's made me switch my focus to the 130msport - given that it has the same performance...

Got a test drive of one on saturday - alas my part exchange now needs an accident repair after someone rear ended me on the way home from the dealership.

More plugs, holds more oil + coolant + transmission fluid, bigger brakes, bigger tyres etc...

It all adds up to make the V8 more expensive to run than the straight 6.

Fair point - any idea how much % wise? Need to make an informed decision :P

Interesting - I today calculated that combined (around town and speedy mway driving split 50/50) only gets me 23mpg in the Z3...
