I just put down a deposit on an 1198S to pick up tomorrow. This is my first ever bike. I am a monumental tosser!

Hmm yes well indeed. Split up with girlfriend, needed cheering up. Might not be so cheery after the first couple of corners but at least it will look fab in the garage.....

That's why I thought a bit of T/C on the S might help. Was going for an 848 but then I thought if it's fast enough to be stupidly dangerous then why not go the full hog. And still less expensive to insure than my RS4?!

Handily it's already got the crash protectors on (is a dealer's demo not brand new).

Mostly worried that am used to some pretty swift metal in cars (remapped 430 at the moment) but will need to avoid trying to replicate the pace of those on the bike.

Thought (apart from looks/noise) the Duke might be better than an IL4 because you don't need to rag it so much to move it so won't be as tempting to wellie it all the time. I might be very wrong however.

Just enjoy the bike and take it easy for your first few rides until you get a feel of the power, my mate has one and just loves his.

Enjoy, take it easy (but I give it 2 weeks if you actually ride it!)
