Little harsh... makes sense to get fixed up in time to try for next season as he's lost his title this year (well, pretty much)

Arrggghhhh, I just stuck up for Stoner... I feel dirty boxedin

It makes sense for him to get the op now ...

but he couldnt not go to Phillip Island surely , he would get some serious stick from his closest supporters.

If I were a cynic, I would say that this is no. 143 in the GP Racers little book of excuses, for not winning the championship.

Only if I were a cynic of course hehe

Agreed.

I have kept out of the Stoner bhing as, well to be honest I just don't like him...so would never have been able to put forward a balanced argumentbiggrin No I have never met him personally, but you know what I mean wink...it's the persona, or lack of it.
...Anyway as Y2 says I was forcing myself to warm to him (and succeeding!) until the Laguna incident...downhill from there although we're levelling off a bit now hehe
My thoughts on the wrist injury is that it must have been aggravated by the offs he's had recently. The last 'straw' being threading his hand awkwardly through a sleeve. Easily done I'm sure and a shame if he can't continue this season to the end, but if it needs sorting proper-like, so be it.
If it was up to him I'm sure he would carry on. If there's one thing Stoner has struck me with, it's his determination...as Mamola said at Daytona...he gives 110% all the time...it's just that when he needs to up his game that extra 1%, it's just not do-able which IMHO has been proved over the last few races.
Next year he'll have Nicky, who will hopefully keep him honest! I just hope he can get on with a howling beast that if it's to be ridable, must be totally strangled by electronics...I want to see more show-boating please!

Yours, an Edwards fan, a Hopper fan, a Guinters fan...etc, etc...a Rossi fan & above all a Motogp fan smile

very well said yoda

yeah i'm Rossi fan but i'd be just as happy for nicky, colin, jamesT,dovi, hopper, jorge to win the title

the only thing i have against stoner is the way he's behaved since laguna crying and spitting his dummy out over rossi passing him and generaly acting like a dick.

i'd like nothing better than for stoner to push rossi all the way for the last 4 races of the season

It's a bloody disgrace. If he were in with a shot he'd be racing no matter what. That he isn't doesn't excuse him, or Ducati from not racing the slot they occupy. Imagine if every rider/team did so. Imagine if it were earlier in the season.

Frankly, this has 'Italian' sore losers written all over it. Straight out of the Ferrari rules to race by book.

Are you suggesting Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Hayden and Hopkins should all have been forced to race with their injuries this season, too? In fact, when Pedrosa pulled out of racing, he was just 16pts from leading the championship, let alone 87pts and 13pts away from a mathematical impossibility. Stoner and Ducati can elect to either take the healing time now in preperation for GP9 testing and the preseason or they can continue to cause further damage and begin writing off their 2009 season now. Which would you prefer to see?

I'm not quite sure how you're drawing that comparison but if you really want to talk about Italian sore losers, as a Rossi fanatic you're on extraordinarily thin ice there.

Why can't you [collective] just be happy that Rossi has won the World Championship? Isn't that enough? Why does it appear that every Rossi fanatic seems to care less about Rossi winning and more about trashing other riders? Look on the bright side, if Stoner stops racing now, he'll end up 3rd in the championship and then you'll be able to comment on how terrible a third place finish is, which lets face it, is what you really want to do.

As a MotoGP fan I like as many top riders as possible, Stoner on a Ducati has forced Rossi back to the top of his game which has made a GP fun to watch.

Long may it continue

Just read the Beeb article. Strange how a 2003 injury is suddenly manifesting itself don't you think? Especially after winning champ'ship last year!!

p.s. RAWWR- I tend to think like many that Ducati ARE/have become very good at "squeezing" the rules and or whinging to the series organisers and I'm sure that's what was meant by the comments above. The Italian motorsport teams in general seem to be revered by all organisers and certainly Ferrari have been clearly seen to have done that going back years ( the Le Mans rule change that backfired on them to let Ford win with GT40s right through to the latest McLaren/Hamilton business cover a pretty good timespan)

Unfortunately, the public "draw" of the "exotic" Italian manufacturers is probably what puts organisrs like Dorna, the FIA and Ecclestone in that ground-worshipping position.

What's so strange? A scaphoid fracture is easy to split again and indeed it happened in the 2006 preseason.

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, especially where Ferrari are concerned, I can't see how that applies to Ducati and, even if it could be applied, how that's relevant to Stoner racing with injury? Forgive my ignorance but can you tell me when Ducati have bent the rules or complained to Dorna?

Theres rumours in forumla 1 that a lot of the reason ferarri get away with murder is because they pump a lot of money & bring a lot of interest the sport.
If they are'nt seen to be winning they lose interest & don't obviously want to spend the money.
Therefore Bernie bell end ecclestone does'nt get to enough to be able to keep his escort.
Sorry WAG by his side.
