It wasn't 1hr 45, but that was a pretty rubbish ride out in an area not familiar to me. Follow your lead next time, eh?
If you're going to lead, surely you should ensure your posse managed to pull out into the traffic before disappearing from a roundabout
I dunno, Andy's LEDs from the sun was behind me.

How do you find the width of the 1290SA? I'd consider one, but am a bit concerned that it would make a BMW GSA look like a heroin chic model, hence make filtering difficult....
Not an issue. I deliberately took it around town to gauge the filter potential and it's fine. The widest part are the bars so very easy to work through the traffic. obviously adding panniers changes this a bit, especially on the right where the exhaust sits.
Visually it looks wide just forward of your knees but it's quite deceptive. Go try one...

I didnt realise the GTR was in budget?

Get that!! Make sure its green though.
To be honest, a good one is a little outside the budget. Prices are very comparable with the VFRs. But they are a really desirable thing.

At 37yrs old though, heated grips, seats and a CD player are winning the day. Should I be worried?!
Not considering a 6 cylinder engine to go with all that yet then? biggrin

I've not even grown up enough for a full face lid & I'm older than him. Odd that as I'm normally old for my age.

4-5k on a GS or FJR turned into 9k on a R1200RT after a lot of squinting and some very shonky man-maths.

Picking it up Friday.

Nope. My brain was fried after researching only one bike to death, let alone two.

Every reviewer anywhere says the RT is top of the class. It's not perfect but I've always liked the looks, it's comfy, has loads of gadgets, I love the colour and the bike I found has a few extras like 49l top box, gps holder (yes holder, the actual gps is 600 quid!) and is specced right up.

Probably should have ridden it first, mind.

Had it two years, toured Sardinia, Corsica, Italy, Croatia etc and due to personal circumstances I sold it in the UK. Now I'm buying a new KTM 1290 Super Adventure, got a fantastic deal in Euros. Due to the exchange rate, I just need to add 2.5kGBP and I have a new 1290 SA, not bad for 2 years biking on a new bike smile I will miss teh DCT, fantastic gearbox, just hope the other manufacturers start to offer it also.

Had the bike for a week and it's superb. My friend has a BMW GSA and that looks much bigger. No problem filtering in Munich traffic. Covered 1100km in 2 days, first service just completed.
