Largely because you’re buying Ducati race components and they’re not cheap
But also because the starting bike is very heavy, so to remove say 15-20kg means use of expensive materials
Also, they don’t crash well and lots of bits don’t last so you need an expensive spares package

It is a valid point. Fair enough in the top class the price of bikes is perhaps less of an issue, but even there the bike that the race winning Duke is based on is considerably dearer than any of its rivals.

I do not know ow much the Supersport bike is, but I would bet very much more than an R6 or Kawasaki, this has to factor into the rules surely?

The class rules only have cost caps on certain components : Ie the rear shock has to be under £3k, a thumb or scooter brake has to be under £450 etc etc
However, some of the more expensive components don't have cost caps, and the Titanium exhaust for a V2 is big money, whereas even a top spec Akra exhaust for an R6 is cheap in comparison
A really good Supersport spec competitive 2024 ZX6R is something like £40k to build for a general customer off the street, whereas a V2 is significantly more

They had bought the McCams Yamahas and TB was riding for him with Bradley Ray. Said it was due to be confirmed on the BSB day at the NEC if all the contracts were sorted in time.

I just thought it was all hearsay until I heard Christian Iddon mention it on the last Chasin the Racin podcast. So maybe it does have some truth to it.

Lets say the above is true, who replaces TB at PBM? Jackson? Recently fired Skinner?
Am i missing any obvious choices?

Oof. I’d love to see Jackson on a PBM bike or even Charlie Nesbitt.

As long as Josh Owens is on the grid, I’ll be happy. He was on the up and up and then he’s had some real bad luck this year.

Ray was treated fairly shoddily by Yamaah in my view with massive favour gong to GP riders as you would expect, but he signed it up so you cant blame anyone else. . Don't know if he has a deal in place for 24.

Be great if Byrne runs a team, less of him on tv then!!

Alan Gardner (OMG owner) bought the entire mcams outfit (bikes, trucks, hospitality etc) and the bikes are up at OMG currently, still in Mcams colours

Pretty sure he is racing an Aprillia V4 for IN Competition in the Pathway class but if the person alluded to above is who i think it is, he left a championship winning team, allegedly was taking a break from racing, came back at Cadwell and did quite well.

I am not sure about this one, i would have thought Ray would ant to continue in WSBK and by the sounds of the commentary at the last round, they wanted to continue with him too. And i would have thought building entirely new bikes from scratch would be difficult unless you have tech support but Raceways have joined with Mar Train to be their tech support for 2024.

I think that one might be misdirection, if we are paying attention to that one we are missing something else. Someone else suggested TB to Honda was a done deal, then again maybe he is staying at PBM. Who knows but we will soon find out

I've no idea if the Shakey team is happening or not now, or any of the details, but I can't be the only one that thinks it's be amazing if it does
BSB could do with some new teams at the Sharp end
