Enjoying the trip episodes. Looking forward to the Panigale trip episodes at some point too.

I love a good BvG vid. Over the past 2 weeks I went from having never watched one, to having watched them all, I sat on the sofa and used my xbox 360 to play them from Youtube, making a sort of tv show of it, of sorts. I loved his Panigale review video, I think he'd do a good job reviewing bikes like that on a regular basis if manufacturers would give him short term loaners. There was more information in that video about what it's like to actually ride a Panigale than any number of other reviews I've watched.

At the chance of sounding REALLY stupid, in his newest video, he says he sprays WD40 all over the bike, apart from the brakes. What does this do?

Presumably acts as a water repellant, so helps prevent corrosion?

Without wanting to start a rubbish pedantry discussion on such matters, WD40 is probably one of the worst things he could use. WD40 is not so much a lubricant but it does drive water out of places they shouldn't be. But it doesn't really offer much protection. Plus it generally leaves behind a sticky residue which only goes to encourage dirt and grime to stick to places where you don't want debris.

The better option would be to either coat the bike with ACF50 before the trip, or to use a cleaner and then a proper lubricant afterwards.

Of course WD40 can be used as a bit of an all-rounder on a temporary basis, but I'd advise giving the bike a thorough clean once home and doing the job properly.

Really enjoying the current raft of vids BvG is posting.

But I have to say. For gods sake man...
1] Buy a Scotoiler. Keep them topped up with oil and you can almost forget about your chain. Nobody who goes touring worries about manually oiling the chain.
2] Get a wheel nut spanner and keep it in your toolkit (surprised it does't come with one TBH) - then if you need to adjust your chain, it's no problem. And you need a breaker bar to loosen the nut - really? Are you sure it's supposed to be that tight?
3] Get a Topbox - yes they're ugly and affect the handling yadda yadda yadda. But if you're touring, they're a no-brainer. Just chuck everything in. It stays waterproof and you can simply unhook them easily when you get to your stopover. No faffing around with insecure cargo nets.

You don't half look like you're making things harder for yourself than they need to be?

Agree with the above, also is moving around on the bike that much really necessary on anything other than the track? I tend to not move at all when road riding.

Nowt wrong with shifting your body weight on such an epic road and taking full advantage. It's proably a good thing the brakes gave up...at least he was enjoying the scenery more smile
Looking forward to the next episode BvG.

Another great episode from the Baron. The scenery on those mountain passes was amazing, I'd love to go down there for a ride. I think I'd be tempted to try and do it with just a backpack, avoid carrying all the tankbag and luggage setup etc. The GSX-R1000 looked pretty awesome on those overtakes, just piling on speed and tearing off down the road, he was right about the tight mountain roads not suiting it, couldn't get on the throttle for more than a second or two and you're at the next corner.

Really enjoyed these, but he's only done 1000 miles and the brake pads are mullered, surely worthy checking before setting off!..Good effort though, the GSXR certainly does the job.

It was pretty funny since he'd just been in a Suzuki dealer a couple of hours earlier. Doh.

Another great episode from the Baron. The bit at the end looking at the GSX-R, what a good looking bike. The bike he loved, but sold last year iirc. Arse-dropping moment on the painted white lines, that wheel spun up very quickly, shows you how fine the knife edge is with a litre bike.

To me, the Baron sounds like a great bloke to hang out with down the pub once a week. Or go on a bike tour with (no more than 4 days mind) once a year. And yet his videos really don't interest me at all. And I don't find him very funny, though I can see how he might be, were you down the pub or on a bike tour with him.

It does sort of make me want to strap a camera and mic to my own helmet though (careful), as I do miss some of the epic roads and riding we've done and would like to have it and my initial reactions, recorded for posterity.

I couldnt agree more, I dont find and any of it 'funny' and can only stand a minute or so of viewing but he has his fans....

Cracking bike the K7 1000, I did a european tour on mine and it was a far better bike for the trip Vs my old Busa in terms of rider comfort.

Really enjoying the whole Eurotrip series. Great stuff.

"Desmo...Panigale...My piece of sh**" laugh

Thought at first that it was Baron's bike that went down. Decent bit of damage to his friend's bike...
