Too much that mate as I said on text. Nearly all the travel on the selector is in one direction. It might feel normal downshifting but a bit st upshifting. You're ok with a bit past perpendicular in either direction but that's too far for me. Have you checked it shifts up and down? I'd have thought any further than that it wouldn't even change gear.
Yep, it shifts fine... not to worry. I've only got to ride it home and then won't be on the bike till Monday by which time the correct rod will have turned up.

Is there not room to fit the bottom rose joint to the inside of the gear lever?

Went for a wet Highland run this week...

Spared no expense on the tech used and waterproofing.

Loads of pictures like this. Wet and scenic.

Ran out of road. Headed South.

I still reckon the best roads in Scotland are in Perthshire.

I'm afraid I didn't have the exact location as we just stopped for pictures (no rush in the wet!).

West highlands, if you're heading North along the coast it's before Caolas Cumhann. I think!

Imagine doing the Streetview car driving up there on nice days, would be great!

Mind the sheep though:

Yeah just watch out for the sheep it would seem! You've got a picture of the bridge that came after it at the bottom there. Cool bridge too.

To be honest, as nice as it is, it was one spot of dozens that were very much photo worthy. In terms of scenary I think the rain doesn't rob the coastal highlands of as much, the crashing waves and the dark clouds rolling down the hills is always impressive.

Sounds like you might want to try tweaking that sensitivity - on mine if I roll off / use the clutch (unload the dogs) there's not enough load on the lever for the QS to fire, so it behaves just as if the QS isn't fitted. If you keep the throttle pinned & leave the clutch alone, the dogs are loaded so you get to lean on the lever a little more, which fires the QS and all happens as intended
Yep, that's basically what I've been told hence to use lower sensitivity ... results in smoother shifts as well. Will sort it tonight.
Think he was alluding to yours being too low? So you're getting it activating even on low load with clutch in and that's what makes the change with clutch a bit st
Er, yeah.. totally bloody confusing smile Low sensitivity = higher force on the lever before it activates

Shouldn't trigger with the clutch etc (too sensitive)
Also if it triggers too early you might not have enough load on the lever to complete the shift - that's what results in false neutrals.
Of course, it's possible to go too far the other way, so it never fires even when it should.. that would be bad!

And holy hell, how much did you have to dismantle?!! All I had to do on the duc was take the side panel off smile

Cheers mate. I figured it out ... it does need to be set as low sensitivity as pre-loading unless very careful results in the QS cutting in like you say. I will do this when the new QS rod arrives...

Yeah it was a mission... still have cut hands smile

It's Ardvreck Castle, by Loch Assynt. On the road to Lochinver, or turn right and head for the Kylesku Bridge, then Durness and on to Dunnet Head.

It was mostly light camping gear so weight was not a problem. The only problem he did have was on the way back he tied it on a little bit to far back and the under seat exhaust melted the bag and his sleeping bag hehe

Urrrrrrm, I guess lower maintenance than an actual wife/GF. :-)

In other news, Mrs Redback911 passed her mod 2 today! Her prize was a Monster 600.

Now I get to stare at her leather covered bottom on the road, instead of just at home.

Managed to dig out the Venom today, started second kick after standing since about October! Pumped up the tyres and away she went.

Here it is with my old man's MSS (the more touring version of the Venom!) in the background.
