RE: Craig Jones: 1985-2008

I didn't know this young man, but from one racer/petrolhead to another, this to me seems to sum it all up, my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to all that knew him and to those who loved him.
Think of me as one at rest,
for me you should not weep
I have no pain no troubled thoughts
for I am just asleep
The living thinking me that was,
is now forever still
And life goes on without me now,
as time forever will.
If your heart is heavy now
because I've gone away
Dwell not long upon it friend
For none of us can stay
Those of you who liked me,
I sincerely thank you all
And those of you who loved me,
I thank you most of all.
And in my fleeting lifespan,
as time went rushing by
I found some time to hesitate,
to laugh, to love, to cry
Matters it now if time began
If time will ever cease?
I was here, I used it all,
and now I am at peace.

I was watching on sunday when the crash happened. So very sad that we have lost Jonesy. Jonesy became a favourite of mine when he was riding the Valmoto Triumph in british supersport a few years ago, and the bike was clearly struggling to match the top Honda's and Craig rode the wheels of that thing, i believe he won the last race of the season on it, it was an absolute joy to watch him backing it in. We have lost a truly gifted rider, and even though i never knew him, clearly a much loved bloke.
From a biker and active motorsport competitor myself (in cars) it's always a hard pill to swallow.
RIP Craig Jones - you will be greatly missed by many, but we can all take a massive amount of pride in what you did for motorcycle racing and how fantasticly you represented yourself, your country and your sport.
God Speed Old Boy...

A damn shame. Heard it wasnt a particularly bad crash ie, didnt hit anyone or anything, out of clearways and high-sided, more the severity of the impact?
It is indeed very sad. I was watching on TV and you're right, it didn't look to be that bad,(although at the speeds that they're doing any crash is going to hurt) didn't hit anyone or anything and wasn't a high side, the back of the bike seemed to come around and he came off the low side. R.I.P young Craig.
Very said, I've found the world superbikes a bit boring this year, maybe because of a lack of brits doing we'll.
But I had started to watch the supersports because the racing has been fantastic (Assen anyone?) and the Brits have been
doing great and Jonesy was up there with the VERY best. Not only have his family and friends lost a great guy but we have
lost a future champion and someone who would have had us on the edge of our seats shouting at the telly cheering him on.
