He does have a point though.

Whilst this prick got everything he deserved , I am truly getting pissed off with the amount of loud cans around that are used inconsiderately near peoples homes .

It wouldnt take a lot for me to snap at one and get some "retribution" especially the tosser who louds it at 4am most weekday mornings on his way to his daily task.

I moved within 4 miles of Thatcham and i truly regret it
That's not just reserved for bikers though - a subsection of all petrolheads make their engines stupidly loud, whether it's a Ducati with Termignoni cans, a teenager with a 50cc scooter with an open spanny chamber, a bloke with a decatted TVR, or a chav with a Corsa with no silencers and 6 pipes coming out the back.

The worst of the lot for noise unfortunately had to be me... my Gilera 180 2-stroke scooter with a full engine job and a silly exhaust that was offensively loud. I was embarrassed by how loud the thing was, but fk me it was fast. And the standard zorst was so heavy that I didn't want to put it back on. It got nicked, I didn't do the zorst on the next one....

All that said, I wouldn't want to see silent bikes on the road... bloody lethal to both pedestrians and bikers - nobody will hear you coming. Seeing the amount of aggro between cyclists and pedestrians in London on a daily basis, if proper motorbikes were forced to have car-level silencing then I reckon there'd be a large rise in accidents in towns. There has to be a happy compromise, but the trouble is that some sounds are more acceptable than others, irrespective of the actual volume measured in dBa (just like I prefer the sound of a loud V8 car to a 9000 rpm 4-pot screamer, the loud Ducatis seem more acceptable than race cans on 14k rpm 4-pot screamers. That doesn't explain why I find the noise Harleys with open pipes make particularly offensive though...). Scooters can be annoyingly noisy even at much lower sound volumes than other bikes.
