The engine looks a bit suspect though - the middle cylinder must surely get a hell of a lot hotter than the outer two, it's air cooled right? Much less surface area to cool the middle cylinder.
No different to the inside two cylinders on an air-cooled four which there's been millions of produced...

Or the inside four cylinders of an inline six!!

I can't think of any inline six two-strokes. Nor any inline fours for that matter...

The wise ones who own them say - it's not an issue with normal riding.

If racing - then the middle cylinder can be jetted riched to compensate.

Apologies, I did mean to write four stoke in there.

I don't really see what difference the two/four stroke thing makes though (in this case)? There are obviously twice the firings in a two-stroke but on the other hand you haven't got all of the valve gear retaining heat in the head, so you have far more air cooling closer to the flameface itself on a two-stroke.

Happy to be corrected though smile

Is cooling the reason why there hasn't been any (production) aircooled inline four two-strokes? Never really thought about that before!

There have been square 4 2 strokes.. but water cooled I think.

The point was 3 cylinders produced enough power.. and was pretty dirty, used lots of fuel.

What model Kwak 500 is that? I had one of the early disc-braked versions.
I DO like that colour scheme for the H1, it's just right for it.

I have been increasingly lusting after a 2 stroke triple Kwak for the past 12 months or so. Guy over the road from me has recently finshed a 250 and it sounds fabulous. Saw another from a distance last week on the road, not sure of size.

I suspect the riding experience may not actually live up to the lust, but still...... cool

In many ways, the 400cc version, (S3, or KH400) is best, if you've never owned a Kwak triple.
It's the easiest to live with and many find it the best-sounding, too.

The handling is dire, in truth.
So are the brakes.
But somehow, it doesn't matter, with a Kawasaki 500 or 750.

The first 500 (drum braked) models were not known throughout the world as 'The Widowmaker' for nothing.

Well - as this one is a special .. it has 6 pot calipers up front and is based of the KH400 frame - which is smaller and less bendy as a result than the 500 and 750 frames..

Also has RGV upside downies at the front and RGV rear swing arm and disc .. and best of all modern tyres.

So not really the original riding experience.

Not riden it yet but knew the moment I saw it I had to own it.. and that it would handle way better that an un molested KH500 !

It's being shown at the classic show this weekend at Stafford.

Have people found an effective way of cleaning the interior of 2-stroke expansion chambers yet?
