Oh and I just ordered two orange flip up jobs, for me at the little girl! I love oRange and nice ans safe having a bright orange head, IMO.
Proper bargains these.
The price for a flip-up is quite impressive. I swore i'd never have one after an accident round town that had my face (if not for my full face helmet) punch a 1" deep dent in the fuel tank. But that's tempting.

How do these helmets size. I'm an XL in Schuberth. Same? Or go bigger/smaller?
I'm a medium shoei and that's 58. I'm 58 medium in an oneal mx helmet. So I went medium bell as it says it's 57 to 58. I don't mind me a bit tight.

Ordered a motocross lid. I don't have an offroad bike, or any other offroad gear, but at £45 it was hard to refuse. Just need a supermoto and/or offroad bike now.

Did the trailworld thing last year and liked that, so not such a silly purchase.

(last night ordered Bell M-10)
anyone got their yet? feedback?

Found few reviews etc, including government sites redirecting to sharp (pile of poo normally), but rating it 3* (because of safety) only!

Alright for £60, but originally priced@ £200, makes me doubt being such quality manufacturer
and then, to top that, I picture myself with a lid in big letters... Bell (end)

will not be surprised Amazon will get few returned

Just got my M10. It fits but the chin bar is really close to my chin! Dunno if that's the same with all flip fronts as I've never had one before?

Also the sun visor doesn't clear my glasses (again, don't know if any do?!). Quality wise though it looks good enough, the other half's going to try it on later as I reckon it'll fit and suit her better and I'll have my old one back off her.

Just got mine, I went for the white/black/red M3x in an XL (same size as my AGV). Quality seems very good, slightly snug around my forehead and back of my head but feels like there'll be some give when I've worn it for a while, not exactly a bad thing anyway as my AGV was starting to feel a bit loose.

Overall for £55 it was a bargain!

Bell M5 helmet arrived today. First impressions;

  • Excellent quality bag.
  • Tight fitting foam at forehead and nose is very close to bar but that could be me.
  • spare tinted visor with pinlock fasteners.
  • Visor movement is very poor with no lip to assist open and close. It doesn't make a good seal either.
  • Nice lining which clearly will discolour very quickly.
  • Front ventilation non adjustable.
  • Reasonably light.
It may be Italian made but it's typical American design. No eye for detail but the main assestes of the helmet; the visor (bar open/closing), lining, and carbon/acramide fibre shell being all very good.

If you paid full price you'd want your head tested.

Doesn't sound too bad. Mad there's no lip on the visor. Oh well... Are there pinlock pins on the clear visor too or just the dark one?

Any pics?

fking courier couldn't find my house, so no new lid for me! frown - away Sun-Tues too! frown

I've got my tests soon, and as a glasses wearer I've been pondering whether I should go flip up or not. I tried a Caberg Duke flip up, and whilst nice quality for the price the fit wasn't suitable for me at all.

Spent 3 hours in J&S Accessories and tried on every single bloody helmet. The only ones that seemed to fit nicely were the £500ish Arais. frown

So I bought the orange M10 flip up jobby, and a manic M3R. More than happy to send them back should they not be up to scratch. I will be judging them at the sale price though. wink

Not sure those RRP are accurate.

Bell are at the lower end of the scale of prices and quality. However, those prices it might be worth a punt, but, would you wear a cheap helmet?

M3R is a Sharp 5 star helmet for £55.

You've got to spend a shed load more to do better to be honest.

the M5x is about £300-350 ish

its a 5 star sharp helmet, I do agree with the comments of the other cheaper models, I wasn't impressed when I seen them in the flesh, however I'm not impressed with many helmets manufactures lower end helmets. These are always going to be lesser as no one would buy their top of the range gear.

That said, seriously look around, wtf does £100 buy you in terms of a helmet, even the ones that were £50 remember they are 5 quid dearer than the st you see in Lidl.

I've bought it to replace my then £225 AGV, it was £40 for another visor, if its st I can live with it, ill use it for short trips and going to work and back.

seriously you really cant loose if you spent £50 or £100 if you want a high quality helmet, spend high quality money. I however accept the comments about like for like comparisons if you were to buy them at their actual price.

Mines still hasn't been bloody dispatched!!!!!!!!

Having never seen the m5x in the flesh how would you compare it to other brands, excluding bouncing on it obviously

from your description I'm guessing if you were to place it in a table it would be like this....in a like for like model comparison

shoei
Arai
Agv
Nolan/xlite
Bell/hjc
shark
lidl/aldi

The M5 helmets go for £350 in the shops. You can Google it if you like, obviously loads of second hand ones just came up for sale after this however.

The quality is very good. Perhaps "attention to detail", was the wrong phrase, it's just lacking some features.

As mentioned it got the highest rating in safety testing, so you can't knowingly buy safer.

Just the dark one.

I think it looks alright to be honest. A bit "Castrol Honda".

(Rear hugger is on order before someone has a go at me).

Great. Now I'll have to buy one.

Mine arrived this morning.

Too small - gutted as a very nice helmet and nice package with the bags and visors.

Anyone who missed out want one for what I paid before I return to Amazon? Size small. As new of course.

Got my motocross lid through this morning. First impressions are that at £43 it's a bargain. Tried it on and fits well, but the top half of the lining isn't fixed/glued to the inside, so it rolls up as i put it on. Not sure whether this is intentional so that it can be removed for cleaning, but it's annoying. Some spray adhesive would sort it though.

Good incentive now to get one of these

My mrs tried on the M10 I ordered last night and it fits her perfectly. I must have a big chin (or too much hair hehe).

Had to do some fiddling with the ratchet mechanism strap though as it was set too big and wouldn't tighten enough. Found it a bit more fiddly than if it'd had just the normal double-ring strap. Fits her perfectly though and she reckons it's far moer comfy than her previous one, which is a bonus!

Looks like a cracking buy for 64 quid delivered smile
