Bloody love mine as well.
All the vibes talk is bks in my book. The bike is so perfect the only thing a few jurno's could find negative to talk about at the launch is a minor vibration that every motorcycle has. Since then it's all been blown out of proportion.
It's very fast, very comfy, can play sports bike or GT with equal aplomb what's not to like. OK, it isn't shaft drive but lets face it how much effort does it take to bung on a bit of lube every so often.
It's only real down side is it's tendency to make one ride like a nutter everywhere. Oh, and the non adjustable clutch lever, which is just stupid but that's sorted for £60.
Best do it all bike I've ever owned by miles. And by golly I've had a few over the years.

No, they do have a vibe issue. Not all, but many. The one I rode was bad yet a friends S1000R is smooth as silk. Just because yours doesn't vibrate doesn''t make it true for all. No they don't.Before I got mine I was so worried about it I almost gave it a miss for a test ride. I rode three demo bikes before deciding and can report no issue whatsoever.
It's all crap. People get on the thing looking for vibration. It's a bloody motorbike of course it vibrates but no more than any other. No surprises that if you go looking for vibration at the forefront of your mind you will find some. Like I said the jurno's have to find something wrong otherwise it looks like they're not doing their job.

Like my friends who's was so bad he chopped it in after 1800kms. Or anothers who's is faultless.
You might love the bike, but don't be a berk denying other owners what they know.

Ok, so you've ridden EVERY S1000R or XR out there?

But you're not an owner are you. Most of the perpetuation about this issue is usually put about by people who don't/haven't actually owned one. Like my friends who's was so bad he chopped it in after 1800kms. Or anothers who's is faultless.

Yes, there are vibes but what bike doesn't vibrate. Like I said the XR is no worse than 99% of other bikes out there. It's the equivalent of saying "Ducati's are unreliable" Oh, hang on a sec...

So like I said earlier, it's an issue. Not on ALL bikes but on some.

So shall we settle with.
Like all motorcycles the BMW XR vibrates. Like all motorcycles some vibrate more than others. As with all motorcycles a test ride is recommended before you buy.
No, let's try being honestLike all motorcycles the BMW XR vibrates. Like all motorcycles some vibrate more than others. As with all motorcycles a test ride is recommended before you buy.
The S1000R/XR has vibration issues on some bikes. When it's bad it's very bad. On others there's absolutely no problem. And it's a resonance issue, not a vibey engine. Whether it's the how far the bars are out from the clamps or whatever, some vibrate at a specific rpm.
Yours doesn't do it. Which is nice. My friends did. Which wasn't.

When I was looking at changing bikes, I tried 2 seperate S1000XRs.Both had terrble vibration. In the end I went for the KTM 1290 SA, even with it's huge Vtwin it ran like butter compared to the BMWs. It also has massive torque low down in comparison. The S1000R/XR has vibration issues on some bikes. When it's bad it's very bad. On others there's absolutely no problem.
