Are you only interested in having a Desmo as a road bike? You wouldn't consider keeping the Panigale and getting a Desmo for track fun?

Hate to say it, but lottery win springs to mind. The people I know who buy these sorts of cars tend to be fairly quiet, whilst the cars are loud, they aren't.

If it is a lottery win, then well done. I'd love one!

So I thought I'd check in a see if there are any comments on the photos I posted up on Saturday and I arrive at a thread even chat roulette would have deleted biggrin

So back on topic! Thanks for all of the postive comments and questions.

So why the McLaren over a 458 or similar & how is it different from the GT3RS? I went for the Macca as it’s just so much more of a car for the money and feels much more modern – carbon tub, trick hydraulic independent suspension, brake-steer, rocket 616 bhp motor & it’s delivery through the revs, pre-cog, launch control & those doors – I could go on! It’s also beautifully simple inside (very much like the RS) and hence I think the interior and exterior will age well. I’ve also had a Ferrari before (360 Challenge Stradale), so have been-there-done-that so to speak. Oh and it’s also a McLaren biggrin – something I’ve dreamed of owning since I was a kid and saw the F1 launch in car mags.

Compared to the RS, it’s in a different league of performance. The RS would do 0-60mph in just over 4secs and 100mph in 8.5 secs – the 12C does it in just over 3 secs and 6 to 100mph – so just about the fastest thing I’ve ever driven. It’s also clever in the way you can switch settings across the engine and ride controls – all very simple and it can go from a true comfortable GT, into a taught racer with the flick of a toggle switch. The sound it makes is something else as well – even at low rev’s there’s a high pitched whistle from the turbos that belies the tune of the engine. I’m still obviously in the honeymoon period with the car, but it’s a huge amount of development and presence for an additional £30k over the RS – really has the aura of a supercar that the RS didn’t.

As for insurance on the Desmo comments & being able to afford it - it's the old saying that to make a small fortune, start with a large one smile - need to make sure you look after the pounds. The Tricolore cost just over £2k to insure for a year with zero riding experience and no-claims - a lot of money, but having done the reseach I new that it would come down significantly after you get a year under your belt - and it has. The Desmo insurance just didn't do that and held steady - I know I can shop around an improve it substantially after I get a couple of years experience as I have a mate who has one - but I'm not going to sit at £5k p.a for a couple of years to achieve that. Can "afford" to wait!

Cheers.

Now back to banana milkshakes & loose womensleep
Fantastic, good on you buddy.

Queue a load of noisey ****s asking what you do for a living.

I don't know how whites are perceived in Africa and Asia. Maybe Swedish blondes and Spanish señoritas look the same to those in Lagos.

I think I took your initial comment personally as I have two rather lovely nieces that are half-Antiguan,
plus some African friends that are girls.

I think you are confusing allowed to do and choose to do with respect
to my wife. It seems a lot of men on here advise just doing what the hell you want and let the wife suck it up. There seems to be quite a few divorced men on here too. Is there a link?

My wife loves me unconditionally, believed in me when I was penniless and jobless (when we met) and puts up with my grumpy misanthropic ways. Minimum I can do is not run roughshod over her wishes. Given that I've had over 25 cars and now 3 bikes in our time together (not to mention all the car and bike related activities) I don't think I've done too badly in getting what I want. Sometimes I have had to work for it though!
I can voice 100% that Moanthebairns isn't a racist. He doesn't even appear to be prejudice against the English which makes him basically the white Malcolm X of Falkirk.

It might be controversial but there really isn't anything racist about saying facial features of some ethnic groups are less preferential to you than others. By definition if it's based on aesthetics it can't be racist or prejudice. I actually agree with him.

Also I quit smoking (for the most part!) and cannabis because of my wife. She can't make me do anything, but it made her feel bad so I did. Frankly it wasn't worth her unhappiness. If I do have a ciggy to calm my nerves at a trackday however, I don't lie, I tell her. She grumbles, but there's no row. Because I'm modifying my behaviour to be considerate to her feelings, not because I'm being forced to. I think there's a subtle difference there.

Similarly she doesn't leave pink fking love hearts and teddy bears all over the bd house.

Can't it ? There is more than one "milkman" on Pheads, one of them had a reasonably spectacular fall not so long ago and his garage was a popular talking point.

Plenty of people with slightly more stable earners that provoke jealousy, stupidity or just PC social opprobrium are also likely to keep schtum.

As you'd been asked a few times and chosen not to reply I made a guess as to why. I did say "well done" either way.

I can vouch for this, by some strange set of coincidence, you work with slickhillsy (Mark). I told him about your post and he said he'd just met up for a coffee with you and discussed the 360CS he was about to buy! Of course as you know, he went for the scud instead. The Mclaren is a good choice by the way!

Cheers for answering.

I was just intrigued, with your situation being so far removed from most people.

If you have it, you might as well enjoy
It.

I work in the city. Wtf does that mean, roofers, bus drivers, trolley guys all work in the city.

I'm guessing your
A) banker who banks all day
B) stocks essential a professional gambler
Or
c) a mortgage advisor kinda guy. Which is possibly the easiest job in the woRld

Here is a mortgage oh here is another. If you had a computer you could see that on a comparison website. The only reason you came to me was for financial advice. But actually I can't give that out as it maybe misleading and I can't say nothing is for sure. They are the weathermen of the city.

I'd sooner hear about his foray in the world of bikes than what's for brunch at the Ivy today.

Don't think a Mortgage broker would be considered a "City Job". Perhaps if he is Trading or Broking MBS.

P.s I suspect you know that he doesn't mean bus driver or even mortgage broker.

C'mon not BB too! It was the last place left on PH where you could avoid pointless internet bickering.

Nice bike, good pics, well done.
