Looking nice BN although the tops of the front suspension looks a bit naff, I know it's electronic wizardry but I would have expected something a bit neater than that but perhaps just me
I agree, the HP4 has a much neater arrangement on the fork tops .

Happy New Bike Day BN!! thumbup

Very VERy lovely. I'm sure you're going to love it to bits. To my eye the new R1 looks very small so I'm not sure what's going to look funnier, you on this or the Fizzy biggrin

Out of interest, is the suspension dynamic like the BM or Mechatronic like the Pani??
And be interesting to see what you make of the logger and associated leccy wizardry when you get her out on track..... Quantum leap from the previous version...

Hope the weather picks up for you, be interesting to hear your thoughts...

Ride safe mate.
Cheers Steve.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have not read up on any aspect of the bikes suspension or electronics.

I've not ridden or even sat on it yet, the Dealers didn't test ride it either due to bad weather and salt strew roads so it has less than a mile on the clock.

I'll see what the weather is like next weekend.

Its looks a quality piece of kit. With this and some interesting new models Yamaha seem on top of their game at the moment.
Yep, things seem to be on the up for them, about time they shook things up.

On the way home from work the car outside temperature said 13 degrees so I took the bike out and did about 50 miles, first impression was that it didn't feel like 13 degrees an hour later and the seat height of the bike feels higher than all the other R1's I have owned over the past 18 years.

Quick shifter works really well but the throttle response is a bit savage in 30mph traffic, after riding my 125 for the last few months this feels like the star ship Enterprise, got it onto a long straight bit of road and thought I was revving it to the red line but when I looked down it was only at 9k revs.

Think I'll use the 125 for track days.

That's because I haven't posted anything. (he'll not do it, he too modest) Anyway, you'll see them both on track soon enough.

Can't wait to see it on track. I never gelled with my 2009 R1 but I'm open to having my mind changed
This model feels nothing like the 2009 model, it feels comfort wise like my 04 and rides like the 07. (stiff and rock hard)

Apparently the rear spring is ROCK hard on these new R1's....
Maybe a call to KTech is in order??
Yep, we had the pre-load wound right off today and it was still rock hard.

A bit of RAF engineering to hold the frame protection in place, I knew the old tail tidy off my 07 R1 would come in handy one day

Other side done now, gorilla tape added before fitting the covers to stop them rubbing through the paint or lacquer.

There's a lot going on under those fairings eh John!!
Going to be interesting to see what you think now you've joined he digital revolution....
enjoy mate, going to look lovely for a Yam wink

Oh, and BTW, a little update re the ABS discussion on these.
The fast guys are starting to disengage the ABS system with direct lines and a 'mod', whatever that is.
One of the guys here just smashed the track record on his new R1M albeit with conventional suspension fitted(top quality mind)
Seems they go well enough. if you can live with the stigma... biggrin
You wanna see all the stuff that's fitted to the air intake and the Left front left hand side Steve, I have a new air intake/clock bracket to fit and to tell the truth its all beginning to feel a little daunting.

I'm off work tomorrow so I'm gonna be up st Sharp and kick its head in all day and see where I get. As you know nothing fits first time and I'm not one to rush just to get it done.

Cheers for the heads up on the dongle, I'll have a look into it. I'm going to run the electronic suspension as I feel it will be more than up to the job for my ability, all I want is to get it on track and see if I can start enjoying track riding again, I've worked hard on my fitness especially trying to get some strength back in my knackered hip/false leg side.

If its a no go I'm just going to buy a Ferrari and some aviator shades and be done with it.

Radiator and oil cooler guards fitted, wiring and other stuff that you never see behind the fairings sorted too.

The new clock bracket on the right replaces all the stuff on the left
