You're not alone. Best race for quite a while from my perspective. As for the Cal comments, the bloke was clearly pissed off - how would you all react?

Racing was bloomin' awesome for MotoGP!
Commentary team will bed in. I remember thinking "it will never be the same" every time it changed from Heuwen and Ryder first time around.
First day back at school - some things are different, most things are the same.

I have just finished watching it, nothing at all to complain about from where I am sitting. The commentary was pretty cringe-worthy, and Cal is doing a Di Resta, obviously he is pissed off but the bike cant be that bad if Dovi hit highest speed at 216.5mph, plus he knew what he was getting into.
Dont think Ducati will tolerate his petulance tho.
Can not wait for the next race, Rossi looking as good as he has in years, Bradl and Bautista looking quick, also Bradley right in there.
Game on!
What a great race - Said it often enough but how does Rossi find the motivation to keep at that level?
Marquez spiral fracture to fibula 6 weeks ago and sets pole then wins - Reminds me of Fast Freddie in this legendary status.
Bradley Smith heroic pace tonight keep building mate and prove your doubter (Incl me) wrong.
Pedrosa your races will come mate - Keep chipping away!!
Lorenzo will be an angry bee but great respectful interview about his team mate mid race.

Cal finished (just) behind Dovi and had some of the electronics not packed up I think he would have been quite happy with that. I think what really pissed him off was how Hodgson appeared to physically stop him in the pit lane. He still had his helmet on which Hodgson should have remembered as a sign that he didn't want to be interviewedDont think Ducati will tolerate his petulance tho.
Marks against Hodgson for that one. I hope all is forgotten in time for the next race as CC is normally good with the commentary teams

The 'fastest lap of each rider' figures are quite interesting.
Marquez did his fastest lap (3rd overall) on lap 22 - the final lap; Rossi (2nd overall) on lap 19. The rest were nearly all done on laps 3 or 4, with Bautista the fastest overall on lap 4. Demonstrates how hard Rossi and Marquez were trying at the end.
Smith (5th overall, behind Pedrosa) did his fastest on lap 15, so still pushing to catch the 3rd place group, perhaps.
I didn't see anything of it, but it looks as though Redding and Hayden did some racing - 0.035s between them at the line. It's a great start to have chased down a former World Champ and put at least two passes on him (as it looks like he did, from the timesheet).
What's also really interesting is what someone else over on Performance Bikes forum just pointed out. Last year Rossi ran out of fuel on the slow down lap. This year he ran the same pace and was able to dick around pulling wheelies on the slow down lap despite have 1 litre (5% roughly) less fuel. That's some impressive progress by Yamaha in 12 months.

I have just finished watching it, nothing at all to complain about from where I am sitting.Couldn't fault BTS' coverage either. Sure, Melanie Sykes and JT were a bit awkward but it was their first time anchoring a live broadcast and they'll get better. Hodgson's grid walk was very good, and Keith & Jules were - as they were nearly 20 years ago - peerless (although Moody / Noyes / Mamola were excellent as well back in the day).
Anyway.
More of the same, please!
Enjoyed that very much. Plenty of positives for BT to take away and improve upon. It was their first broadcast and considering they had several different people around the grid, they had few technicals and the anchors did a fair job.
On the racing front, brilliant action and something we all wanted to see - old vs new battling it out! I think it sets the season up perfectly for a close battle amongst the front runners. Pedro & Lorenzo will want to reel Marquez in over the next couple of rounds, and hopefully Marquez wont change gear and disappear off into the distance. I did think the likes of Bradl, Bautista and Smith were excellent despite not finishing. I would imagine they will all take the positives from the race. Cal, well he knew what he was letting himself in for. There is nothing wrong with giving 100% but when the bike clearly is not capable of running with the front men, no matter how much effort you give, you're never going to be able to compete. The danger comes when effort exceeds the capabilities of the bike.
Fair enough about the helmet on thing, but I do think he should have been more professional when speaking to Hodgson. I dont imagine Bradders would have quite had the same reaction. I like Hodgson, he's not afraid to get stuck in or make comments about people, but the same could be said about Cal really.

Not getting where all this Cal bashing has come from? He has said many times he knew exactly what he was doing and that it would take a year or more before the bike came good.
He'd just come straight off the bike after an intense race with a technical issue. I'm sure he was still full of adrenalin. Also of course there will be frustrations from not being in a similar race position to last year, but I imagine that he was just pissed off that his bike crapped out on him.
I still think he's made the right choice long term.

Cal had problems with the electronics from about lap 5 i think and it cut out completely at the end. He's just stepped off the bike still pumping and he answered Hodgsons questions anyway.
People are too quick to jump on him, he isn't always smiley like Marquez or Rossi, he tells it like it is and upsets the armchair experts.
