Really good meeting today. Lots of cool old superbikes, and the little 450 Aprilias. Sadly not the OW01s, RC30s I'd hoped for but still nice to hear the big old ZXRs and things. Ages since I've seen a steelie CBR600 race too!
Was a bit windy and cold so didn't stay too long, but a nice way to spend a Sunday - far better than sititng in front of the telly watchign WSB

Cracking pics buddy, really enjoyed looking through them.
That CB500 bought back memories, they raced with us (Hornets) in new era, not seen one for years.
The CBs were great! I remember seeing Toseland racing one at Cadwell, before he'd 'made' it.That CB500 bought back memories, they raced with us (Hornets) in new era, not seen one for years.
The one in the pic was the winner and probably made the best save I've seen in years. He was pretty much not slowing down for the last chicane and on about the penultimate lap, when he had a huge lead it either bottomed out or he lost the back end. Almost full opposite lock, the thing bucking and him out of the seat, he carried on up the straight without shutting off but standing up, offroad style. Coolest display of the day
In fact all of the racing was really good. If there wasn't a battle for the lead there was for the podiums, and the grids were full. They had so many races to get through that they were stopping the bikes on their in lap so they could get the next race to the grid. Almost non-stop action for the day.
As I keep saying - if you haven't been to see a club meeting, do it. It's a great day out

Thundersport seem to do a great job of it. The Golden Era grid is huge. The one in the pic was the winner and probably made the best save I've seen in years. Nice pic of Chris Norris (22) who won both races at Hottrax Oulton Park, who got a second and a couple other good results at T'sport.
How quick were those ZX's out of the corners and down the long straights compared to the Mille's Simon?

They weren't noticably faster, to be honest - the RSVs were very similar pace from where we were watching from. The ZX7 was leading the whole race but the ZXR sneaked past coming out of the last corner (which is the pic). sprinter1050 said:
Yep. Nice pics Si.
You knew No. 8 had lost it already in that 1st pic.
What on earth is the all grey dustbin/battleship thing though ?? Early GSXR (Gixxer) ?!
Yeah he had a proper wobble on! You knew No. 8 had lost it already in that 1st pic.

Not too sure what the battleship grey's all about. It had a painted tank so I'm guessing it's either to preserve the original bodywork or to replace it! I was really impressed how he was hustling it around - he stayed well ahead of many early R6s etc. I guess he had the legs on the straights but it goes to show how much is down to the chap in charge, not just the machine!
Hi Simon,
If you want to see the Honda Britain RC45 in action, Colin has just confirmed that Ian Simpson will be riding it at the next round at Cadwell Park (may 25th - 27th).
The results sheets, points tables and photo links etc from the meeting are all available via the Thundersport GB website or Facebook links. (not allowed to post the links on here apparantly, but they're not hard to find).

Sadly I'm busy that weekend, I would've loved to see an RC45 (my favourite homologation special!) being used in anger again. I'm hoping there'll be a few at Mallory for the Festival though. If you want to see the Honda Britain RC45 in action, Colin has just confirmed that Ian Simpson will be riding it at the next round at Cadwell Park (may 25th - 27th).

And I can't see what harm linking to the results/home page is, so long as there's no hardcore porn hidden in there
