How bad can cheap intercoms be?

Yes - I've just treated us to new helmets so I'm going to de then re-install them tonight into the new ones.

When I'm on the bike by myself the phone link works well and it links up fine with my cheapy Hong Kong sat nav too.

Looking at buying some of these.

There doesn't seem to be much middle ground - it's either £50 odd quid for a set of the cheapie specials as above, or £200+ for Interphone / Sena / Scala expensiveness. Nothing for £100-150. I'm looking for a pair, as I want to be able to swear at my mate and criticise his riding.

Being tight, the £50 ones look OK, as long as they're usable. Anyone else got any success / horror stories with them, or ones they'd recommend?

Just tried them out with a mate and they seem great - easy to fit, set up and good, clear reception. We'll see how they last.

I hope you didn't pay £90 for the pair, they're going for £50ish for a pair on eBay/Amazon etc.

No, I bought them when they were £54 posted - they have just changed the price, by the looks of it, the tinkers!
