Not quite a supermoto, but I had a Tenere 650 a few years back. Comfy, agile (as long as you have long legs) and barking wheelie potential. Chains lasted weeks though (er, maybe I should have stayed on two wheels more!).

A Tenere? That's a lardy-bloater bike compared to a Supermoto

A colleague had a CCM for a while before he got another Blade. He thought it was barking mad - great fun. You won't lose your licence for speeding but you may for stunting the thing everywhere!!

Downsides are a seat that's as comfortable as a razor and a tank range of about 30 feet.

Only doing a 15 minute commute (and thats in the TVR) so range isn't important, can you get a pillion on one, or carry anything usefull, locks etc?

Well, for 15 minutes it would be ideal. Pillion is possible - but not comfortable. Locks and stuff have to be bolted to it but there's loads of frame bits to do that on.

Not worryed about pillion comfort but it is legal?
Do they all have rear pegs/grab handles?
Don't really what the pillion legs akimbo hanging on the back, like you did as a kid on the local playing field

Yup. It's legal. As far as I know you don't need anything to take a pillion (although the passenger won't thank you for it!). Depends on the bike as to whether they have pillion pegs though?

The CCM's do and they're pretty hardcore - British too. Michaela Fogarty (King Carl's missus) is a shareholder.

The R30 does look nice and I can insure one for £480, I think I need to get down the bike shop and have a look/go

Been considering a supermoto myself, for a bit of fun.
Got an old KTM 500 (2-stroke), not brilliant on road but bd-well fast and a real wheelie monster (bike not me!), although it's tempora"mental" and a cow to start (I'm too old for kickstarting!), quite fancy a KTM duke or similar, any ideas?

cazzo,

I'd recommend the KTM LC4 if you want a supermoto with more of a race look, though a Duke is great if you're after a bit of comfort (though these are supermotos - comfort doesn't usually feature).

Otherwise, I personally like the look of the Husky SM 570 R. Have a look at www.Husqvarna.it I believe it's a bit uncomortable for vibes, but makes good power in stock form.

Maybe a converted Honda XR650? Honda reliability isn't to be sniffed at if you ask me.

LC4/Duke both look great, really need a test ride, comfort not too important - my other bike is a 916, which is probably the most uncomfortable bike I've ever ridden as it places too much weight on wrists (under about 110mph) stonking machine though!

I was tempted to trade-in for a Monster S4 as a sort of compromise but decided I "need" the sportsbike and would like a supermoto as well (thats just me being greedy!) the only problem is the cost, might be difficult to convince the wife I need another bike!

I test rode a KTM super-moto.

Bleuuuuuuk !! we hated it. Vibration worse than a Harley, no top end, wobbly handling, and kak brakes.

Oh, and a high price tag. Uncomfortable seat.

They DO NOT OUTCORNER SPORTS BIKES. Get that one straight ! actually, a CB500 will out perform it.
