With all this lovely biking weather we're having at the moment, thoughts inevitably run to warm spring roads and some serious fun. The Old Gits are therefore currently planning their annual Euro jaunt with Chamonix in the French Alps the destination for 2013. woohoowoohoowoohoowoohoo

The hotel is booked from Thur 23rd May to Wed 29th May allowing a week of exploring some of the best roads in the world.

We already have 5 PH BB members signed up for the trip but would any body else be interested in joining us? PM me if you'd like to know more. beer

Further details at www.old-gits.org

ETA picture of hotel just to give you an idea as to where we will be staying.

One of these days I'd love to come along on one of these trips but lack of holiday this year is a major problem. Thanks for inviting people like this, it sounds like a great laugh.

This will be my third trip in as many years with this group. I didn't know any of them before my first trip in 2011, heard about it on here and thought what the hell. I have not regretted it at all. It's alway very well organised (by black-k1) with no mark up costs added. Everyone made me feel very welcome and the mountain roads certainly improved my riding. The old gits trip is now in my diary every year. If you want to go on a tour this year but are a bit unsure, or your mates are dithering about saying they might / might not, come on this - it is great!

Beats the hell out of the TT mate...you'll realise what your missing if you do make it one year.

Sadly, my LC (and family holiday ) is still stripping me bare, so no bikey holiday this year...

I've just been sent this link to "19 Of The Greatest Driving Roads On Earth". Interesting read and looking forward to May as 3 of them are less than 200km from Chamonix and another is less than 300km. There is a risk that some of the passes won't be open by late May but there are so many good roads in that area it will be hard not to find something worth while.

ETA picture so everyone can see the sort of roads that can be expected.

There's a pretty even spread from mid 30's to 60's. Young enough to talk about pulling the attractive young bar maid in the hotel bar but not young enough to have any realistic chance of achieving it.! whistle

Well, you'd be more than welcome to join any of the future trips.

I'm not sure how that would work! idea Although, having someone to carry all the luggage may not be a bad thing!

I presume in the past you made more use of the space on top of the kayak? smile

I'd love to go on a Euro trip like the one above but it's my brother's stag do on the same dates, how selfish! Do you organise any other trips later in the year?

Just tell him he'll have to delay the wedding and the stag do. There are priorities you know! I'm sure he'll understand.

We don't have any formal plans for later in the year. For me (and many of the other Old Gits) it's the only time we get from work/family/other commitments.

You'd still be welcome, even as the baby of the group. (We'd wait for you and let you catch up at regular intervals!) wink

I might approach that subject this weekend and see what response I get. I don't think the bride will be quite so understanding hehe

That's good to know I'd still be welcome being in my 20s (well just), hopefully I can make next year's trip. Let me know if you make any last minute plans later in the year, would definitely be interested
