Picked this up last night. Rode the 70 miles home on it from Canary Wharf and today have just given it a quick clean for some pictures.

It has a few extras like electronic ignition and a 32mm Amal Carb. Runs well but am still getting used to the kickstart, decomp and choke. It will all come with time though and learning the bike smile

I absolutely love it cloud9 Pretty rubbish in any measurable way, but it is so much fun to ride and is such an occasion. I love the way it shakes the ground on tickover biggrin

Brilliant!
A friend of mine whose family is from Chennai says that his uncle owns one, and his aunt used to know when to put the tea kettle on by the approaching sound/vibrations!

That looks fantastic - congrats!

That one along with the Fury were my favourite of the new FI Enfields that were at the NEC bike show in 2011.

Little Update:

I am about 500 miles down on the old Enfield now. So far I have replaced the coil after breaking down, fitted a twin seat and modified some pillion pegs to fit around the exhaust. I have also just fitted a retro Smiths style speedo that reads in MPH and got some new tyres from a guy on the Enfield forum as the rear is starting to get a bit low.

Other bits I have bought are a small tool bag which is fitted on the back which I have filled with all the tools I imagine it will ever need, and also a branded magnetic tank bag (£27 biggrin) which has made it very practical for commuting.

I have been using it for work the past week and it has been fantastic. So much so I haven't even touched the Ducati since I brought the Enfield home, so I will be taking that to work tomorrow as I feel a bit sorry for it.

On this tank I am also up to 200 miles and still havent hit reserve! Will be interesting to work out the MPG figures when I fill it up.

That is a cracking looking bike. How does the front drum feel in day to day traffic?

Its pretty crap, but i think at the moment it is just badly adjusted as the rear is much more effective. You are never going fast enough to brake too heavily though so it doesnt make much odds hehe

Sounds like you are enjoying it - glad to hear that. I popped round to see a mate on Sunday and he'd just picked up a similar model that has been sat for the last eight years, some new fuel and a bit of prodding and poking and it fired up fine...
As for your front brake, properly adjusted it should be pretty good (as good as an old fashioned single pot disc) - folk get a bit confused on how to set them up and they end up working like a single leader or worse, be worth taking the time to set up correctly.

One of the commonist cockups people do with drum brakes is set them up with the arm & cable at 90 degrees. Doing that means the more you pull the lever to less leverage you get on the shoes.
