Was struck this morning by an annoying and intermittent gremlin, if the bike stalls when it is hot, it won't restart (will turn over twice and sound like battery is dead) if I wait 20 mins for bike to cool down, bike will start as per normal furious, this caught me out this morning on the great west road in London and had to sit for a while and cool my heels, as it's not the first time and it's happened a few times this year wondering if something is buggered, but not sure what and was hoping the collective wisdom of BB might be able to help.

Bike is triumph tiger 1050, 51k miles, 3.5 years old, battery replaced 18months ago, optimate used frequeently (not this week mind), bike used as daily commuter every week for 80 miles a day.

Checked battery terminal connections this morning and it didn't seem to be that, anyone any clues?

Not a Triumph, but i had those exact symptoms on the run up to my rectifier/regulator failing on my CBR.

Maybe worth a google?

Sounds like pickup coil, try googling it. Happened on my Trophy a few years ago, exact same symptoms. Think it was about £30 and about an hour to replace it myself. My Trophy suddenly conked out doing 70mph in the outside lane of the M1, cue lots of frantic arm waving as I drifted over to the hard shoulder.

Spoken to Bulldog Triumph on the phone and they think it's battery, although I'm not entirely convinced :/

They've asked me to whizz it down there for a voltage check, but can't do that until Thursday due to work.
