Bike Stolen - Black Hayabusa - Wapping, London
Discussion
Unfortunately my P&J was stolen last night (Tues 29 July) while I was in Waitrose, Wapping/St Katherine's dock between 1938 - 1948.
Parked on the corner of Thomas More st and Nesham St.
Suzuki Hayabusa Black/Red HY10 CTO.
Apparently 2 chaps on a scooter in helmets just pulled it along the road, alarm going and everything.
Any information or sightings much appreciated. Not holding out much hope as the police said it was fairly common and the bikes get broken up...

Absolute s hope they crash into a lamppost and kill themselves.
Bike theft really seems to be on the rise lately I never leave my bike out of my sight and if I do my alarmed disc lock is on it as well as the steering lock and a chain if I'm gonna be a bit longer.
Hope you hear something mate I'll keep an eye out as I'm in London unfortunately

I know London's a big place, but it seems there's a bike theft epidemic going on at the moment.
At the moment? London has always been terrible for bike theft. The odds are something daft like 1 in 10 of it being stolen, hence why premiums are so high there. creampuff said:
If they get pushed away by petty crooks on scooters, it seems to me that a disc lock would reduce your theft risk by a lot.
Only if you have disclocks on both wheels. The scum round here are quite adept with a bit of scaffolding pole to bypass a lock on the front wheel. The only half-decent security for public spaces is to chain it to something immovable with a chain that can't be cropped. The downside is that the thickness of chain you need to be invulnerable to cropping makes it almost impossible to carry around with you.
I have decided that whenever riding into central london I must have secure parking. Otherwise I just wont take my bike.
My brother was parking his 2012 Triple on the street and I made him take a chain to lock it up. However I am sure chain he had could be cropped pretty quickly if the scum wanted.
The only other thing I have heard is ride an older bike and still chain it up! Maybe they wont move on a old bike? Maybe?
