Very nice.

What model is it? I don't think it is an SPS or R as no Ohlins.

Hi!

As far as I know its just a 748 Monoposto. Its not an R or anything.

Maybe they have different specs for the US, I'm not sure.. I googled about for the timeline and specs but not to much avail..

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Nice ride Scoobz.

Well it's got a Biposto subframe (lot's of Monos, particularly in the US did) but IMHO that's a good thing because, although it's slightly heavier, you can add a Biposto seat if you want without having to change Subframe & undertray.

My 916 is like that, started life as a Biposto but now has a single seat with a Bip seat if needed, if you want to get more involved with Ducati in the USA check out; www.ducati.ms/ .

Thanks everyone!

Catso, there's a vin decoder somewhere so I can probably figure out what it was, the title just says 748. I don't really care to be honest, I bloody love it. Thanks for your analysis though, at least I know if it was a biposto before and now its mono its better because its heavier...

Still enjoying it.. In fact, I just dragged myself round the garage by my tail because of it..

I've done about 100 miles today and my wrists are killing me... Also it doesn't get on well with sitting in traffic (No lane splitting allowed here ) it gets well hot.

Apart from that I am having a scream, in true late to the party biker fashion 'I wish i'd done it earlier in life.'

The Biposto subframe is heavier but it's only a couple of pounds (steel vs Aluminium) but you can't put a twin seat on the mono subframe as it's not strong enough and doesn't have the footrest mountings, unless you're racing that couple of pounds saving is irrelevant. Ducati fitted the Bip frame on many monos (especially for the US market) to save money but this means that if you ever want to take a passenger it will save you money and time as you'll only need the seat and footrests.

Re. the weight on the wrists, ('they all do that sir') you need to ride faster - at about 110mph all your weight lifts off them also support your weight with your body in more of a crouch - helps if you've got a six-pack well either that or a fat gut so you can rest it on the tank

Enjoy

It's not supposed to be comfortable, you need to persevere with it but you do get used to them and the position gives you a much better level of control.

Cheers everyone

Carrera - Everyone told me the yellow ones are quicker

Also, can anyone tell by looking if that is one of those termignioni type exhausts or merely a sticker on the standard one?

Still loving it. I've actually cleaned it. Twice as well

Looks like Termignoni Titanium exhaust to me, if you look down the outlet is there a pipe within a pipe? or do you just see perforated tube with wadding round it - the tube will be the same bore as the outlet pipe (around 50mm), if so then it is the real deal and you will be able to shove a broom handle right down to the bend in the pipe. The standard ones have various chambers within to make it quieter and are very restricting if it is the Termi system there should also be the wording 'race use only' on the metal strap around the front of the can (although it's on top and difficult to see) and finally it should be LOUD.

Finally, some bad news, I'm afraid you have been misled - the Red ones are faster

it is loud...

I started it up and set off two car alarms in the garage. Oops.

Yep, its the real exhaust then, bugger all in the back box to stop a broom handle. To be honest catso, I am riding so slowly at the minute Miss Daisy could be on the back... Good job reds are quicker at the mo.

thanks guys!
