Ok so I have my new bike and need to get some security for it.

What disc brake lock and what chain type lock do you guys use?

I have been looking on ebay and the Oxford brand of products look fairly good quality.

I want a disc lock and a big chain type that I can secure through the back wheel.

Ideally something that is easy to stow would be best. There isn't much storage on a Monster.

Motrax Vishas disc lock - best you can buy.

For a chain and lock, I use a Squire set. I'm aware that you can buy wider chains, but it does the job for me as part of an overall security plan.

Oxford Chains don't have a very good rep although they did 'alright' in the Ride tests.

The best chains are Almax, apparently.

And yes, Motrax Vishas disc locks are brilliant

There doesn't seem to be any Vishas on ebay just Guvnors. I'll keep looking.

Where do you guys store your chains while riding? Do you just wrap in around the rear seat?

Oxford Disk Lock and a 2 meter "English Chain" with Military Armoury padlock

also use a cheap "U" bolt to immpbilise the front wheel to the chain (to be honest, if someone is going to knick it, there is going to be no stopping them its all token really

Just place a plastic poo on the saddle. That'd put me off.

or as mentioned before chain a big ass rottwieler to it.

but they are like £600 so probably best to go for the chain. you don't have to walk a chain either or clean its crap...why the hell did i go down the rottweiler route?!!

My chain AND disc lock fits under my pillion seat on my NC30! So I reckon all you guys with big boys bikes can certainly find SOMEWHERE to put one!

Arf biggrin
They really havent improved storage, specially on the sportsbikes. I can just about fit the bloody stupid insurance required disclock under the seat, alongside the obligatory 10 ciggies. The ECU takes up the rest of the space.

abus granit x plus disc lock when in garage and at work + abus granit extreme chain and lock when in garage (too heavy to take to work).
