VFR400 - Anyone had one ??

I've got a NC30. They are an absolute blast.
Issues:
- Small bike. People say tall people can't ride them, but I'm lanky and over 6 foot and it fits me well. I don't get back pain and only get a bit of an achy wrist if I'm out for more than an hour. For my 50 minute commute it's brilliant. Because of it's small size it is also great for getting round traffic.
- As someone else said, apparently the rectifiers go rather a lot
- REALLY REALLY tedious to service. If you service it yourself, it WILL take a longer time than you expect. If you pay someone you will pay a premium. There is a lot of fairing, and a lot of bits covering other bits and a lot of things squeezed into small spaces (see spark plugs)
- Quite old now. It is HARD to find a decent one. I would go so far as to say that if the fairing paintjob isn't 100% as it was when it was released, don't touch it. It has likely been thrown down a road, abused, or more to the point someone didn't care about it enough to sort the fairing properly. If you're just looking for a knockabout bike, ignore this comment, but I'd rather know it's been looked after
- Popular track bikes, so have been thrashed usually
- Unless you're aiming at the top end of the budget, it'll be an import, so you will by no means have a full service history.
- Suspension is very soft. It's a bit of an odd feeling
Generally:
- The engines are bulletproof. If it sounds wrong, smokes, whatever, don't touch it, someone has really hammered it.
- Goes like s
t off a shovel. Really, really fast when you get the gearing right. Wonderful way of teaching yourself power bands and how to use them.
- Incredible handling, gives you feedback to every little move you make and hugs the road beautifully.
