Relacement rear window

Has anyone any idea where I can get a new rear window in any area to the west of London? As I cleaned my tiv at the weekend the stitching gave way and I now have a hole where the window should be.!

RCA posted back in March that he has a contact in Leicester that can restitch a rear window for around £60. Seems like a good excuse to go for a blat up the M1 and maybe get it done while you wait? I'm sure RCA will see this and add a comment or else you could email him by looking up his RCA handle in the members directory.

I was looking at using Tower View to replace mine - 275 + VAT!

gradually cracked and tore due to so much folding in the cold!

Hutch you are correct, I have spotted it!!!!!, Drop me an e-mail if you are interested, Will be ringing the bloke this afternoon as mine is in bad need of replacement, will be able to let you have accurate figures!!!

There's a chap based at Crystal Palace who does this work for £150 plus VAT. The feedback was good from the PH who got his window fixed and there's more details on an earlier thread that can be found by using the search feature at the top of the screen.

Type in "rear screen replaced" and search all dates in the TVR Chimaera threads and you'll find it in Jan 2002.

What ever you do please let us know the outcome.

Thanks for the info. Have found the info you refer to. January last, and it sounds like the best solution. Good report on the replacement by Soft Tops at Crystal Palace. Complete replacement for £150 plus VAT. This beats the £1000 plus for a new roof!! This seems the best option as it is a lot nearer.

The chap at Soft tops (can't remember his name now) did my Chimaera rear screen in Jan of this year. He did an excellent job.. You really can't see where it has been replaced, it's better than new..!! I really do mean this as he used a slightly thicker plastic screen, and the colour of the cotton/thread is a better match to the colour of my roof than the original. Top...

Have had my rear window replaced and am really pleased with the result. Went to Surrey Trimming Co in New Haw,Surrey, and they replaced the window in a day at a cost of £150 plus VAT. Highly recommended - contact number 01932 351251.
