Hi, First post (first problem, 6 months 4K miles!) Thanks for all the info over the last 6 months, it's been superb. Got into car last night, drivers side window does not work, although other one does. seems electrical, where do I start ?
Clue; Last time it was out I washed it.

You've checked the window isn't "stuck" ie rubbing against the frame to stop it moving up?

Yes, cheched that(tried to help it but motor is either not getting juice (hopefully) or plain dead. Will try later today starting with the switch and I'll let you know how i get on.

Hi, just joined P'heads- only had my car for 2 weeks- but more of that in a fresh post.
Some years ago I had the same window problem on an MX5 [yeah yeah, but you've gotta start somewhere]. The window was stuck in the open position so I removed the trim etc & found that the cable that runs from the motor had snapped- but managed to raise the glass for overnight security. I was mugged into replacing the whole unit (£125!) but later learned that you can buy the cables for aroung £20 on the internet and they're fairly easy to fit. Can you hear the motor trying to raise the window? If yes, it's probably not an electrical problem. Good luck.

Getting the door panel off is a bit of a nightmare but there are plenty of threads on how to do it, Fairly straight forward to change the motor when the trims off though

Hopefully it's just the switch, but if it's not...

I'd take the speaker out of the door and check you've got power to the motor (push fit connector, blue wire from memory but that may be the door opener) then put 12v across the motor to check that, you really don't want to dismantle the door unless you have to

Kenny, you won't believe how much more dificult it is to work on TVR trim than Mazda

Now that’s what I call an accurate diagnosis. Absolutely spot on. Removed the speaker (3 self tappers) pushed the black wire back into the motor, and it worked perfectly. Big sigh of relief!. Thank you guys, really appreciate it. Because it only took 20 minutes to fix, 15 of which were spent faffing around, I got to go for a decent run.
Garret.
