Rear diff currently being stripped down and refurbed.
She wasnt in good fettle and needed a major overall unfortunately, but on the other hand, imagine if i had just left her as she was, and put the whole car back together only to find the issues when i tried to drive her Just something to bear in mind if you start a strip down
whos refurbing the diff for you?She wasnt in good fettle and needed a major overall unfortunately, but on the other hand, imagine if i had just left her as she was, and put the whole car back together only to find the issues when i tried to drive her Just something to bear in mind if you start a strip down

How do you best evaluate diff condition? What do they suffer from particularly, excessive backlash, crown wheel and pinion tooth wear or bearing failure? If it's bearings what suffers the most pinion or diff sides? Haven't got much experience of limited slips, what's the best assessment of their condition.
Nice to see a decent chassis, spoke to the chaps in Sheffield about mine who were most helpful.

Thanks for the above.
I understand that the trickiest part of the mod. is adapting the pinion to the TVR u/j, most other issues being fairly straightforward. Would you share any advice on that?
Yes and there is athread on here showing you what to do i thinkThanks for the above.

As you say there are other threads. I know the pinion housing needs rotating through 180 degrees but have never read how to mate the u/j...perhaps I've missed a post.
Anyway, thanks for your info.
You will need the uj off a Ford Ka to blend the two together,i'm going to run the rack using the original RV8 PAS pump not the electrical version.Anyway, thanks for your info.
