Well rich 838 kindly came yesterday and has changed one side of the manifold gaskets with the other side to do today,he has the most sexually long fingers and can tease the bolts out without removing the starter!!!!
It was a long weekend on the car with stirling work from Martin Walton (griff man) to remove all the old meta system, identify all the old alarm cables and fit a new toad system, cleans up the dash wiring and simplifies the install,we are also intergrating the boot release to the alarm fob
The fuse box was moved to behind the passenger seat and I had to extend the loom some time back when health was better but I'm glad to report that now the electrics are pretty well done with no anomalies, we have also run the fan controls from the ecu which will allow me to lower the temperature threshold in the summer, fuel pump relay and ecu install are clear and available for ease of access
Noticed vac problems on initial start up last week and we have now fitted a dedicated take off on the rear of the plenum, plugs have been changed to resistor types due to interference and with the gaskets being changed today it will be ready for another run tonight, fingers crossed it will be good.
Top tip from Martin and some of you will probably use this anyway, when installing spark plugs, get a 150mm long bit of hose that will slip over the ceramic end of the plug, this can hold the plug to allow you to screw it into the head, simple but works a treat and you can feel to get the plugs in and not drop them

Well Richard "sexual" fingers hit the spot and the manifold gaskets are now as quiet as a quiet thing,so thanks for all your help rich, top job and the proof of the pudding is in the eating
Ran her up again this evening, vast improvement with the mods to the vac take off and the resistor plug, set the timing and she settled down to a happy idle with the base map.
Ecu software is still showing a bit of potential interference tho on tickover with sensor figures jumping around a bit which maybe confusing the ecu,I'm not sure if this is just a possible perceived problem or actual, checked all earths and everything is as canems require so I will drop them a mail and see what they say, initial feelings are good tho and any further tweeks can wait till it goes on the rollers, mechanically she is a peach
Now to start on some of the nicer bits, got the doors to build up,carpets, hood install etc
One slight problem that showed itself tonight.......bugger wouldn't go in gear, went in ok with engine stopped and allowed me to start it in gear with no dragging,I'm not panicking at the mo,it's possible the plate is just dragging slightly or maybe a little tight on the new spigot bush, enough to still rotate the input shaft and restrict the ability to get in gear....tomorrow's another day as they say!!!
Once again thanks rich for your help and to Martin Walton the PCs guru who just loves plugging himself into my ports!!

Been a bit slow on updates, big thanks to Pete toolbox 200 for his hard work in fitting the carpets and to Martin Walton for his assistance in updating the electrics and ongoing problem solving
State of play now is,mechanically all there, engine running sweet and is ready for mapping updates as soon as she is road legal
Electrics all done with no gremlins apart from the fact I have gone to Corrado mirrors and there is a problem interfacing the mirror controls
Interior just about there, seats are now mx5 2.5 and these have been recovered in new leather, this was a set made in Germany and supplied by mx5 parts, great quality and superb fit,not too bad a job to fit yourself, have even managed to match the stitching in red to go with the rest of the car
Body wise, some titivating, drivers glass to reset ,other bits and bobs, new hood and targa fitted yesterday.
Purchased new body rubbers from a well known supplier in the Midlands, they are total pants so complete new set coming today from an alternative supplier, hopefully these will be better
So basically nothing major to do and currently no big issues, hoping to get an mot by the end of the week and then off for full geo set up
Pics to be posted very soon

Alun was with me earlier in the week and it did him the world of good working on the car, I was in contact with him yesterday and I hope it all went ok.
its now down to finishing bits, door panels... repainted the mirrors in reverse colours and Martin is building an interface to work the Corrado mirrors with the Chimera controls
Boot lid repainted, that can be fitted tomorrow
Few bits of trim to fit
Underneath needs cleaning off and painting but that can wait till post MOT
Realistically it nearly there, there is nothing major to do.... that's probably fooked it now!!
Without the help from the PH posse it would never have got to this stage so quickly and I am in complete gratitude, my only hope is now HIM above gives me a little time to be able to get it out and have a burble about angel

Well this all came as a bit of a shock,Sunday evening felt fine went to bed but woke up early hours of Monday morning with what felt like raging temperature, ended up sleeping bolt upright on the settee and drifted back to bed at 6,30am with my good wife calling the ambulance at7,30am
There was no messing about, straight to hospital with words of sepsis in my ears. The resus department did a wonderful job in keeping me going and I felt sure that this was my lot, anyways my oncologist came to see me late last nigh to see how I was doing and again this am to confirm that it was "a catastrophic blood infection from the lungs but getting in everything else" I think I best class that as one of my 9 lives. Going to have to take it easy now don't know when they will let me out

Thanks for all the ph support

I think that after putting up with all the monkeys on here - especially that Alun - it is no wonder you have had a relapse. Or is it that the nurses look just a little bit better than your new man friends? laugh

For the last couple of months I have been having radiotherapy and saw countless patients like yourself. You all seem very upbeat despite the circumstances and an inspiration to others. It is too easy to look inwards when the big C comes calling.

Now just get your a'se out of there and get this bl##dy car back on the road where it belongs with you at the wheel. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. thumbup
This has been a real frightener, people are now reminding me of conversations on mon tues along the lines of no resus and just chatting with my nurse this eve her comments were nasty nasty bug and you were lucky.....perhaps I better do the lottery, looks like I'm going to be in for at least another 10 days while they pump more drugs into me.

Rich 838 if you honestly think I would let anyone bar myself take beastie for its maiden run and mot then you must have been on the same drugs as me!!! I'm hopefull I will be up and fighting in the next 2weeks and it will fly thro
