Isn't it easier to program in the sound of the engine running as it should and then simply retard on anomalous sounds within the obvious frequency range? As 'pinking' can occur over a range of frequencies but is easy to detect as a change from norm, while an engine when correct will have static frequency?

Smart Ecus are programmed to listen to knock before the engine actually knocks, technology I love it.Dom

That was the one thing no one told me when i stuck the blower on...its eff'n thirsty!...oh yeah, you can cruise down the motorway feathering the throttle at get 33 mpg (i did it once!) but most of the time, even a 20 min journey its impossible to NOT press the loud paddle and it will eat a fifteen quids worth easily!Dom

Diesels Have Turbos and they do pretty well.
