0 BHP? yikes That's ... Bloody Day Light Rubbery hehe
Probably more than that.
My 60 foot times have dropped into the 1.5's on gas. Traction is endless.
I run 1.7s NA which is 2 tenths quicker than very good street tyre times. This can equate to more than 4 tenths up the 1/4

I'm not even running mine up the strip without a set on.

Is there a limit the mt street can take before you change again to a full drag tyre ??
Not for us. Fadster used to run the same times on them in Twister with 1500bhp + a 400 shot to run low 8's at over 170.

Just get them smoking for a few seconds and give it all the beans you dare.

Can you spot the difference?

So now a decision to make.
Do i attach the gearbox and try to drop the lot in from the winch or drop the engine in as is and add the rest under the car?

Which will be the easiest do we think guys?

ocker covers tongue out but will those vents be man enough Del? scratchchin I put engine in 1st then gearbox after then struggled with the linkage and especially the shims and nylon bush banghead as a unit I would of struggled on my own I reckon without knocking 5 bells out the engine bay and chassis frown
Yeah think i am leaning to dropping the engine in as is. Ive had plenty practice putting gearboxes in.

On the vent front, i could always swap the filler for a flame trap.

The spigot bearing John at Readman racing gave me for free whilst i was getting the gearbox rebuilt again.
Clutch aligned, bellhousing and starter motor fitted, now to winch it in.

Keep at it Derek, you're running out of time?

Did you source some rocker box bolts?
Ive ran out of time really. Gearbox to go in tomorrow morning, exhaust, plumbing and wiring to connect. Then maybe will be time to fire it up. I guess with luck i could have it bed in and maybe even put a couple miles on it but the fuelling will be out. I guess will be weak so will have to keep an eye on it but it really needs to go to Dale to set up properly.
I wont be racing it this weekend thats for sure frown.

Look back in the thread a bit Peter, i used some larger metric cap heads, drilled open the rockers and spacers and retapped the heads.

You should do it for a living ! why did I have to wait three months for my engine ?
I couldnt handle the stress and responsibility of an engine that wasnt mine. Not at this level of build anyway.

I am currently trying to remember where the wiring goes. Generally just flop it over the engine and hope for the best.

Still got to fit the gearbox, prop, exhaust, radiator and plumbing, plenum, intake etc.

The gearbox is bolted to the bellhousing and the clutch arm didnt fall off the release bearing carrier... bonus.

I discovered a sticky UJ on the prop so will swap that for a new one.

Gearbox and prop are in.
Now where the hell is the smiley plate?
Might have to stop wasting my time looking and get the clutch slave fitted anyway. Times a wasting!

It's the 4 small bolts that bolt the plate on that tend to go missing!

There's always more to finishing the job than you think.
I lost them years ago.

Just wiring the starter was bad enough. I couldn't help myself cleaning and tidying the rats nest down there.

So called it a day.

Tomorrow... gear linkage, interior trim, radiator, exhaust, swirl pot, plenum, plug leads, inlet, fuel lines and a lot of checks before connecting the battery.

Gonna need to modify the coilpack bracket as it fouls the flame trap in the P6 rocker cover.
I will also be making a fresh set of leads but the old ones will do for now.

Getting there, just need to fit the exhaust system.

Its been a fight all the way.

The exhaust slipped on easy.

So a few checks then connected the Oddysey battery and the positive post sheared!
Managed to get another nut on a couple of threads without a washer.

Then with the fuel off i turned the key. Little tight at first then turning over nicely. Turned the key off and it kept turning over by itself so i had to disconnect the battery.
I had this problem last time and couldnt figure out what it was. The only difference was the alternator so i swapped the old one back and it fixed the problem. This is the good alternator so i am stumped!

Old thread from last time! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Found a missing earth on the MS.

It fired up straight away, revved it between 3 and 4k for a couple of minutes till the smoke cleared off the manifolds.
Got a little water leak to fix then will try run it up to temp.
Also need to richen the map up somewhat. The AFR flies about if varying revs but it goes weak if holding constant revs.

Would you get a better flow of gasses if you removed the old lambdas and drilled the insert part and then welded flat plate ?
No.
