Used to live in Nunny myself; Horeston Grange. I'm now in Rugby. If I get my Chim fixed I might just pop over.

The car looks nice on the outside anyway!

Looking forward to seeing the bling chassis!

The body only needs to come up 6 inches to do 90% of the chassis - if full body off cos it is that bad - best just scrap it!

If you've raised the ficker 6 inches, then you might aswell take the body off, as you've done all the hard work.

Steve's project is more "restoration" than "repair". Chassis will be as new.
They is a big difference between fully off and half off. If you don't need to ( and this one sound like it needs it) - mine is 99 and only28k mile when it came off and now back on garaged all the time - did it cos I had a window of a week in between fitting Huge engine / gbox! Not after concours (just keeping it weatherproofed and very presentable if under it - only had surface rust from the splitting of the typically TVr quality coating!)

So ; where does the black finish wxy-oyl fit in with the bling finished chassis ?

Having deeply disturbed visions of you polishing outriggers & chassis rails after a good days run out.

Hey up folk Howard makes an appearance!

You know I bet Greg could get a good finish on them there outriggers, think of the decrease in drag factor...I will need to do something to compensate for the increase in weight (i.e. some outriggers), dieting obviously hasn't worked so far (before you say it Phil/Bob). Mind you with all the engine mods I should be getting at least 200 bhp, any thoughts?

Just need to find a chappie with a 4 point rig, to gain easy access to them, know anyone with a garage?

Anyway what's it like for you down here in steerage from the dizzy heights of the LW Cerbie forum?

Where you seriuos about the bracket for the diff?

Steve.

Get the car fixed and pop over, that said I do allow other makes of car on the drive, even had some big American landrover on it Saturday, driver thought the place was a cafe or something . You would be welcome eitherway.

Thanks I guess its the sort of combination that you like or hate, hey the pressure is on for bling then!

Yep - serious about the diff bracket shouldn't be difficult to develop from a bit of plate Get it bling painted if you like after, & issue mirror's on sticks to view on the underside incl rails / riggers.
Dont worry about the lack of power - throw you some braces on the way by ! get prepared with shocks & tyres to handle the extra speed.
Dizzy heights of Cerbie forums boast war with raging horsepower battle's ; many deaths have followed ; standard Cerbies cast aside & Red Rose mega machines with heavy chip armour claiming victory ; one most awsome much talked about is yet to be realeased from its cage at 1000BHP plus plus plus.
Any bets how far that will go on a tank of 97RON

PS. just introduced myself on Chimaera forum. So, that's the end of my little chat then.

Appreciate the offer of the bracket, will take you up on in it then, thanks.

You know this cerbie thing requires a man with a big ...erm chest? So I am obviously not the man for the car.

I have always been down on Power but have still been there or there abouts if you see what I mean, I like the idea of plugs in tyres that are not Z rated and touching 155+ makes life interesting...well probably short (and stupid?)if not interesting? Plus trying some half decent shocks and then going back to the original blown one's makes you appreciate what you CAN drive around...if you see where i am coming from. Nitrons one day then but 1st things 1st

Do you think I should go for colour coded braces then? Isn't it hard to eat with them in? Guess I should check this out with Sammy first.

Keep up with the good work

I intend to take the chassis over for shotblasting sometime on Thursday then get it back to Adrian's on Friday.

The idea is we work on it Saturday and Sunday, get it sorted amd Hot Zinc Plated early next week.

There are a few dependancies but this could be in a position for rebuild in 2-3 weeks, probably regret saying this!

Hey Mac,

Fairplay welcome on board, I would have been well and truely F*c*ed that's for sure, glad you made it, you know the way now and the kettle is on, get a sunny day and need a run out from your neck of the woods....plus Buster appreciates the attention as we don't let him out much....

That is a prestine example of a low mileage, untouched car you have there bloke, sounds like you have some ideas too....

let me know how you get on with the wheels...if you have no luck "tweety" may be abvle to offer you some advice.

Steve.

p.s. At least you managed a smile for the camera during the lift...priorities right there then!

Steve,

If you spent half as much time working on your "car" as you do here or on Ph, it would of been finished before you started it!

And thirdly,

Hey mate don't start with the apologies, (only took 3 hours!), then again I guess you should be apologising, just replace car with "Supercar" and you will be halfway there.

Ha ha ha so funny let me pick myself up off the floor!

I guess that's typical designer car industry bod talk, do an afternoon half(sic) graft, end up on the pop and claim they restored a chim...

Anyway, chassis collected today and now at Adrian's, cannot believe how much better it looks already, all one colour (greyish), anyway no major issues were revealed by the blasting process, corner mounting plates already being marked up and cut, looks like it will start to take shape over the weekend.

I also intend to dismantle all four "corners" this weekend, and identify what fixings I need to replace with stainless/high tensileor one's that qill require zinc plating.

Still undecided over chassis final colour...

Still undecided over the chassis colour?

How about a lovely chrome effect, it will look really nice.

No really it would.

It doesnt matter what they all say, it would be tasteful!

Jamie

OMG!

Hi Tabatha001

Hey mate like they say if you can't beat em join em, you've never been the same since I blated you off in the mundano....and gave you an early shower to boot!!

Anyway had a fantastic weekend stuck in the garage cleaning off waxoil from all 8 wishbones then repainting them in the same colour blue that Mr molloys pop is in nice , think I will do the chassis in the same stuff cos it is engine paint and will withstand the heat that the manifolds throw at the chassis...this is a real suprise seen another one that has suffered bad corrosion in this area, I reckon the constant heating up and cooling down cracks the powdercoat....you can't see this happen cos the manifolds are in the way, the next you know....rot. Oh I took the brakes apart and gave them the once over too.

The work on the chassis is about done ihis has been Hot Zinc Sprayed and primererd today, so should be back home tomorrow, then it will be done with POR15 and painted ....blue.

Yes indeed, it is that bad.
In this case, the body was being used as a sub frame to hold the chassis together.
Do the decent thing, bury it!.
Or leave it outside for 2 weeks, at the current rate of corrosion it shouldnt last much longer than that.

Bob,

Viewing of shot blasted/refabricated/shot blasted/hot zinc sprayed/primered chassis commences Wednesday evening (after t) strictly by appointment as obviously demand will be high, this will be an exclusive viewing in darki(ish) grey primer.
Features strengthened seatbelt mounts/outrigger joints/boxed in roll cage mountings etc etc etc

treat it like a January test session for the new Minardi (I know I am in denial!) or in Phil's (wixer) case a Debenhams pre sale evening focusing on petite clothing (mainly Dorothy P)

Just been next door to see Steves new refurbed chassis. VERY impressed with the workmanship and detail finish of the welding and fabrication. Dont know what he paid for it but looks to be worth every penny.
Now we just have to wait and see what revolting colour he paints it but it cant be worse than the rest of the car...........can it?

er yes that will probably be my car, currently at Adrian Venn's to be fixed as I am too old/disillusioned/lazy to do myself.

Am new to the forum but there is a bit of a story behind this one, anyone who is interested email me direct.
